  1. What broad heads did you use and is that shoot through mesh? Nice work man, a bird with the bow is tough.
  2. Just curious where about you live? We recently had a co-worker whose dog was attacked by a skunk and is quarantined.
  3. I use Gold Tip Pro Hunters, I'm limited in arrow choice because I have a 31 inch draw and they are the most reliable I've shot.
  4. As long as they make the Rage broad head I will use then. Fly just like a filed point and the deer I've shot with them have all fallen within sight of my stand. Very little tracking.
  5. Good luck! Hope he sees ya knock one down.
  6. Yea that sucks, saw a guy walking in the other morning with a pretty expensive video camera set up. I'd love to be able and get something like that.
  7. Even the Jakes had hens, for as fun as it was to watch them strut gobble and mill around it was frustrating that nothing would work our way. Oh well thats why its hunting and not target practice. Back at it Wed & Thur
  8. Haha sorry my fat fingers hit the send button before I was done.
  9. Met up with a buddy @4:20AM at a new property we have permission for. We had set up a few spots to sit the night before. It's a 12 acre hidden field with hard woods around two sides and two decent hedge rows around it. At 4:50 gobblers sound off 60 yards to my left. Shortly after that Toms go off all along the yards woods. It was at least 5 birds sounding off. Shortly after a hen flys out of a tree 5 feet from me and I about jumped out of my boots. After the fog cleared there were 3 jakes one long beard 3 hens and 4 deer in this field. My buddy had set up decoys and the long beard was working to him (I'm about 200 yards away watching through my binocs) some of the jakes were chasing the deer around. It was pretty funny, I've never seen that before. Anyway the Tom is in full strut working to my buddies set up, he gets to 60 yards and every animal in the field heads for the woods. We don't know what spooked them but instead of being done at 610 we watched 3-4 jakes strut around a single hen until 930. There was gobbling all over the hard woods but nothing wanted to play. It was a fun morning.
  10. We were covered in birds and deer this morning. One tow, 4 jakes 4 hens and a ton of gobbling. The worked in the field we were watching from 5:50am-9:55am. Birds were all hen'd up. This was in Saratoga County.
  11. Hahaha hey someone has to do it!
  12. We did hunt fall birds last year but mostly bow in the fall. Ill have to look into that. Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
  13. Not one gobble this morning and I know I had birds around. Guy shot one a few fields over. Southern Saratoga county here. Now I'm stuck at work till tomorrow.
  14. Nice work! Glad your problem didn't ruin your hunting season. Nice bird
  15. That is what it's all about! Congrats on an awesome hunt.
  16. Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Josh. I stumbled onto this site because the other site I was a member of wasn't very active when it came to turkey talk. I'm 29, engaged and have a 2 year old daughter. Obviously I'm a turkey hunter but I'm also an avid deer hunter (archery and gun) I hunt in saratoga and Montgomery county. I also have a trained black lab but I've never been duck hunting cause I don't know how lol I sell cars for a living, don't judge me on that though lol
  17. Lol if I had the money I would, turkey season is tops in my book. Nothing like a gobble in the woods
  18. 9 minutes left at work for the day. The afternoon will consist of continuing potty training with my daughter and getting a my gear together. I can hear the gobblers now, doubt I will get any sleep tonight. Good luck to everyone going out tomorrow, be safe and shoot straight! Dear little baby Jesus, Please afford us a few hours of sleep tonight. May our alarm clocks wake us up on time and our trucks to start. Grant us a safe drive and a quiet walk to our blinds. Let us enjoy the blood pumping mating call of a male turkey and the silence there after because the hens are far far away. Please make our calls and decoys enticing and bring him in on a string. Let our shotguns be loaded and our aim to be perfect. Let our walk back to the truck be 20 pounds heavier. God Bless. Amen
  19. Spurs usually tell age, hard to guess without seeing them. I would guess 2-3 years old if I had to.
  20. I believe there are some good YouTube videos on how to do it. The first one is going to be a pain in the butt. I was fortunate enough to have someone show me in person but those videos will do the trick. You are going to want a piece of cardboard and tacks for the tail and some salt.
  21. I wish I purchased 200, we went to a bunch of local farms and asked permission. We scouted the last few days and I'm pumped for tomorrow. We've seen and heard gobblers all over. After looking at it again its about 150 in one spot and over 250 in the other. Stacked fields, a stream runs through one and both have hardwoods. We put a few makeshift blinds in yesterday.
  22. I just found this site recently, I just picked up over 200 acres of property for turkey hunting. Went to do some scouting this morning and was greeted with a plethora of gobbles. Didn't lay any eyes on the birds but I didn't stick around long. Got an idea of where they were and where they are going, pumped about May 1st. Good luck everyone
