Is there a bear season in your area? I'd bust if I got a pic of a bear on my property! One of these days..... -

Nice job with the camo! Just get it good and aired out and you'll be ready to go! Nice bear and buck too! Bet you were surprised to see the first bear ever, huh? LOL Did you see any sign of him before the pics? -
Virginia Creeper is a vine, that kinda resembles poison ivy, but it has 5 leaves. "Leaves of 3 (poison ivy), let it be. Leaves of 5 (virginia creeper), let it thrive." From my old botany professor!

Guess my only "ritual" that I do right before heading out is remembering to take a whiz, to get rid of the coffee that I drank earlier! Easier to do it before heading out, then realizing you forgot and have to do it right around daylight and you're 20' up with bow (or gun) in your hand.

Can't say that I've ever seen that before, let alone know what it is.

Sure is rewarding and makes you feel good to see the critters enjoying the fruits of your labor (and $$)! It's not that they can't survive without it, but it sure makes them healthier, whether it's for milk production, antler growth, growing fawns, preparing for/during winter, etc...

Right now, as others have said, urea just before a good rain. Otherwise, you'll be wasting your $! Sure does give the plants an energy boost! -
Noticed that the farmer that borders my property got his triticale planted yesterday. As I was driving by the field today, there were ~10 turkeys in the field! Don't know if they were scratching up his seed or if they were out there for the bugs, but they sure were going at it!!

Fall Grain Planting

Broadcasted my first of 3 planned seedings today. Suppose to have rain and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. Plan on doing 2 more seedings 5-7 days apart, depending on rain in forecast. Should have a nice variety of plant maturity later this fall and winter. If my plots can grow grains, as well as they do rocks, I should have a hell of a crop out there! Damn those rocks!! Swear I picked up 10,000, OK it seemed like that many anyway! Spent ~2hrs out in a 1 acre plot picking up rocks in the heat and humidity! That sucked!! At one point, I thought someone would probably find me laying in the plot! Oh well, plenty of rocks to cover me up with! -

Been doing a lot of reading about triticale and it sounds great! The best part is that farmer is doing all the work! The deer will either come from my property or come across my property to get to it!

Sorry to hear that Paula. I hope it's done and over with now! Kick Cancers Ass!!!

I wonder if the HS scent-free soap or shampoo would work just as well?

How did it go?

Good year for apples?
Cabin Fever replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I made a mental note that I want to get in there with a chainsaw and trim around the apple trees, to get rid of some brush and nutrient/sunlight competition. -
You're off to a good start WELLSY! Gotta start somewhere! It must be tough in the mountains, deciding where to place stands. I'm use to farms, ag fields, bottlenecks, and smaller woodlots. You put the stands where the sign is at now and season starts pretty soon. Hunt them, see how it goes, and move around later if need be. Don't know how many stands you have, but if you had a few to hang in various places, it might better your chances. If you're not seeing activity in one spot, you can always jump in another stand. Or maybe even use a climber?
