  1. Watch the video on this Lifeline link. http://www.huntersafetysystem.com/lifeline/ You can tie the bottom of the lifeline off to the bottom of your ladder.
  2. That sucks! How did you make out with the farmer today?
  3. This is the first year in the past several years that I've even seen poults on my property! Don't have many, but a few.... The flock has 9 birds, 3 hens and 6 poults.
  4. Glad everything worked out for ya'! That's gotta be a big relief, especially being so close to season!
  5. Maybe not, but if they pull this crap in front of me, I won't have the heart to shoot her!
  6. Sorry to hear that! Such a shame! Any tracks to follow?
  7. Geez, 9 days before season starts, and the fawns are still nursing... Figured momma would have cut them off by now! http://
  8. Noticed today that some crabapple trees don't have any apples left laying on the ground, while other trees 20 yards away, have bushels scattered under them, untouched. Weird! Talked to the neighbor, who owns the bordering apple orchard. He said he's never had so many apples before, but the problem is, neither has anyone else! Seems it has been a bumper crop all over the country. With so many apples, prices are low! He said he'll probably just break even this year, with his bumper crop! He said that the local Motts processing plant can't even take all the apples! He said the drops that he usually picks up for juice, won't even be worth it this year, so they'll just lay and rot! (And feed the deer! )
  9. Nice! That apple tree looks like a hot spot!
  10. Been staring at my vacation planner all morning!! I'm only working 9 days during the entire bow season! I have lots of flexibility, so I can cancel/reschedule at the last minute if we get unfavorable weather (or I need a rest) LOL.
  11. Man, he's a nice one! And up on his feet at 11:48am!? Any chance of getting another stand in there close?
  12. Holy $hitballs!! That's a HUGE bear!! Good luck with that one!
  13. They're just waiting for you!! LOL
  14. Just let those babies hang outside! Sometimes it takes several weeks!
  15. Just a word of advise to those of you that still have your Dad to hunt with. Take the opportunity this fall to burn an image or memory into your mind of Dad enjoying himself in the woods, sitting around camp, sitting in his stand, on the ATV, dragging/butchering a deer, telling a story that you've heard a thousand times, or just walking in the woods. Sometimes Dad might get on your nerves, need extra help, slow you down, or have a different opinion that causes you to bite your tongue, but just remember, he won't be here forever. This time of year is always bittersweet for those of us that don't have our Dads/hunting buddies to hunt with anymore. Sure sucks walking by his empty treestands and seeing his empty chair at camp. You never know if this might be the last year that you'll have Dad to enjoy the woods with...
  16. I was out last week hanging a stand in the rain and trimming shooting lanes. It SUCKED, but I had the opportunity, so had to take advantage of it!
  17. When do deer start hitting the corn? Do they wait until the corn turns brown? Always seen corn damage when the stalks are still green, but don't know if its from squirrels, coons, or deer?
  18. Let it get the rain out of it's system now, so hopefully we'll have a dryer season?
  19. Last year, I shot a buck and didn't feel good about the shot, so I left it go overnight. (Hate tracking deer at night anyway!) I found it the next morning, ~80 yards from where I had hit it, but the damn coyotes found it before I did! They ate one whole hind quarter out of it! A neighbor had warned me never to leave a deer lay overnight, as he hears packs of coyotes often yipping and howling over there! I've noticed that even gut piles are cleaned up over night! I've read horror stories (and seen many pics) on other forums of guys saying that coyotes were on their deer within 5 minutes of shooting them! One guy showed his moose that was eaten overnight by coyotes!
