  1. I would definately go with the Bushnell. If you're watching a plot and concerned about the trigger, make yourself one of these adjustable stands, so you can place the cam anywhere in the plot and move it around if you want. I've had the deer browse the leaves right off my camo job on the stand! http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/5508-adjustable-cam-stand/
  2. Can you believe he was only 48?? The swamp life must have really aged him! I assumed he was 60-70 years old!!
  3. Great bird!! Congrats!! Sounds like you had an exciting hunt!
  4. His brother is gonna be lost without him... They were tight.
  5. WTH??? What kind of snake is that? Might be better if they were all that color, so they wouldn't blend in so well and scare the crap outta me (and scream like a little girl) when I almost step on them!
  6. Sure looks like a nice morning to be in the woods!! (Beats the hell out of the office anyway....)
  7. I grew up in Newark! I live in Waterloo now.
  8. I took my daughter out during the youth season. On the second day, I called in a jake. She missed at 20 yards! She was crushed to miss such a gimme shot! Took my son out last weekend, but the woods were dead. Didn't hear or see a thing. Believe it or not, I haven't even heard a shot yet between the youth season and the first weekend of the regular season! Pretty bad!!
  9. I went out scouting and listening at daylight 2 weeks before the youth season started. They were gobbling very well! One morning, I heard 4-5 gobblers within 100-400 yards of my cabin. The second day of youth season, I heard one. Haven't heard a gobble since!
  10. Hey Teebug. There are a handful of Wayne and Ontario County guys around here. Jump right in! Hope you have waders...
  11. Sure looks like it's been eating well! That's probably not a good thing....
  12. I took my son out last weekend and we had 3 yearlings come in to 10-15 yards from my turkey decoys to check them out. They did this 6 different times!!! They would get within a few yards, snort, bound ~50 yards, then come back in and do it all over again! It was very humorous to watch! They were so curious, that they just couldn't let it go! I told my son we might need to use turkey decoys for deer hunting! LOL They sure helped pass the time, since no gobblers were cooperating!
  13. VERY good point!! I never thought of that!!
  14. Does this include the whole southern portion of Ontario County south of Rt. 20 or are there other boundries?
  15. Of course you can, but we're talking for deer hunting...
  16. With additional counties opening up to rifle hunting, what seems like every year or so, is the states goal to open up the whole state to rifle hunting eventually? I would love to be able to hunt with a rifle in Wayne County.
  17. Very Nice! I would love to take one with a bow!
  18. Congrats!! Finally got a boy! Hey, those girls make good hunting buddies too!!
  19. It must depend on which part of the state you're in? I have never seen a tick or heard any friends ever mention them around here and I've lived here my entire life.
  20. OMG that looks delicious!! Great buck too!!
