Phade I did not know that about pre1939, very interesting. The following is not meant to be sarcastic or for me to sound like a d**k... do you really think no deer were hunted during those years? Not even by the locals trying to live? Did DEC exist then? (Serious ?) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm not sure that those records are still held today because the herd was balanced then and to say so is your opinion and you are entitled to it. It is a fact, however, that those deer grew that big without the state saying you couldn't shoot them until they had 3pts on one side. There was no balancing of herds then. Deer were shot for meat. Does more deer equal better herd management? Does the fact that there were probably as many hunters in the STATE at that time as there are in a single county TODAY have any bearing on those records? I agree with you that the hunter numbers were down however, the rules were not as applicable to those who did hunt. How bout we find the number of deer all locals took year round to survive? You cannot possibly tell me the herd was more balanced back then....no shot. I was simply stating a fact overlooked by everyone, the top 2 deer taken in NY were in 1939, when AR was only something a pirate said and before people managed deer. I am not knocking anyone's thoughts or opinions on this subject. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The state record gun typical and gun non typical were both taken in 1939..... There were some huge deer taken in NYS throughout history, way before anyone knew what an AR was. The deer still grew back then, obviously, but with no AR's. They have always existed...but we want more of them now so we are trying methods to having huge bucks everywhere and anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love hunting and love the thought of a huge buck coming my way. I guess I just think AR's are not necessarily needed to experience that. For the record, this is coming from a hunter that has not cracked 100" on a buck yet. Still trying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

every now and then i will wear orange when walking on state land...but usually if i go to state land i'm in a tree from and hour before sunrise to an hour after...cant see orange in the dark... i personally think the orange vests/hats/jackets show a shade to deer that is identifiable to them which is why i do not like it...

if i leave something anywhere, I DO expect it to be there when i return... you know, since its mine...and not anyone elses....since when is something that is not yours, yours? Early, i hope your just trying to ruffle feathers and not actually believing the trash that just came out of your mouth... a camera in the woods of all things to say if its left in the woods its up for grabs....where would you like to put it? I know, the trunk of my car doesnt seem to have anyone walking by, i'll try there...> ohhh, you must be the best hunter in the world to not have to subject yourself to the low standards of using technology to hunt.............FYI, you used a computer to post your dumb remark....technology.

Seriously, maybe in some areas deer get surprised by a machine coming through the woods and spook....I would have to say in all my experience they do not care. Think about how many times you have passed a deer on the side of the road and either backed up or turned around to see it again. They stay and will not run until they feel you are a threat. Thanks. It's actually not me pictured, but my friend who shot that big boy last year on my property 300 yds from my stand. Great hunt and memory...I pulled out of my stand To help him track. Many many high fives. We had trail cam pics of him for 2 weeks before opening day and including the night before he was taken. They are out there. I also missed a bigger one Few years ago chasing a doe. Gun was legit shooting 13" high, not sure how it happened but it did. Sucked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best bang for your buck gear

The field and stream line of camo at dicks is inexpensive compared to other brands and just as affective. Matching sets, jackets, pants, bibs, hat gloves etc. I'd check that out. under Armor is solid but more costly. Or you could try to check the bargain cave at. Cabelas. They usually put last years camo on sale for a significant price drop. I bought a $170 pair of under armor boots for $56. $75 pants for $25. Etc etc. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
Was gonna ask the same thing Grow....otherwise Id be annoyed to see the trooper have a new bike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
