If you have a Doe Tag, are you going to use it opening day or wait?
DROpTINE replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
Something that my father did that I now keep as a tradition, I usually save my doe tag for the last weekend or give to a first timer at my camp. Last year i saw deer everyday out, until the last weekend. Tag soup last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

What time will you be in your stand / blind / spot on opening morning?
DROpTINE replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
About an hour before. I'm bringing 2 new guys to my camp so I'll be dropping them off with the atv about hour and half before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Wanted to start a thread for anyone else hunting in 4P. Would love to see who is seeing/getting what this season.... I'll be leaving Thursday 11/14 for my cabin in Halcottsville, coming home 11/25. Anyone else? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Went up to my place this past weekend to do some last minute setups on my stands. I have an apple tree next to my cabin(15yds) that was ravaged for the first time in years. Tracks everywhere and this rub next to it, right next to my shed with atv inside. Then, directly behind my cabin(30yds) found this one. And this one next to it, I've got a feeling it's the same one...I always bring my gun with me to the outhouse, it might pay off this year. Wouldn't be the first one taken while taking... Coyotes do attack dogs let loose and also kill them. However, if a dog let loose is aggressive it will fight back and in turn kill the coyote. Coyotes have, for a fact, accepted dogs into the pack. Dominance plays a huge factor. I'd venture to say a large percentage of dogs released into the woods like that are for reasons of attacks or too aggressive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think trying to work it out with this guy would be the best route....I understand the trespassing part but he's a member of a certain fraternity that could result in constant ball busting by him or his coworkers. It's a tough call, do what you feel is right, but I'd definitely ask the owner what he wants to do. Maybe he knows the guy. Or maybe the previous owner allowed this guy to go on the land. Anyone see this? I might have missed it, pretty big buck. 14 pts, 350lbs

I feel like most of the time, the hunter that harvests the animal, doesn't try to post it himself. Except that guy last year who brought the deer back and gutted on his property Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Awesome picture! There is an albino deer in Harriman. Spotted her 2x last season off the thruway. So cool to see, Hey Verm, Would you take her if you had a chance? Or let her walk? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The neck on that deer is almost bigger than my first deer! Congrats on a monster buck!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree. Personally, fenced in hunts do nothing for me. Why anyone would pay thousands of dollars to shoot a monster deer that pretty much counts for nothing is beyond me. Takes the entire sport and fun out of getting whatever deer you harvest. However, whatever anyone wants to do with there money is up to them. Just don't try to be a sneak about it. Again, I do not want to take anything away from anyone. If this is legit, this guy deserves a big congrats. If this is a preserve deer, then shame on whoever it was that sent it in to outdoor life. Like I said I hope I'm wrong, but from what I've been reading it looks doubtful. The deer's face looks real young too. Too young for that body, just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The deer is apparently from a preserve in NJ That's from the Facebook page of the preserve. Looks like a match. What do you think ? I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
They call those guys Coy-dogs by me...where my property is, it is the last property off a dirt road with a right of way through a neighbors property...people would drive up our road, let the dog out, then drive away, we've seen half breed coyotes with all sorts of dogs up by me... i love dogs, all of them...if you had a dogs nose and energy and were let loose on a huge piece of land i'm sure you would start sniffing and maybe chase a deer...ITS THE OWNERS FAULT IF THE DOG IS LIKE THAT, NOT THE DOGS...to say you would kill a dog, pretty much for being a dog, is mind boggling. People in my opinion do more harm than the worst dog...personally i think there are more people who should be shot than a dog....

a bad back has kept me from going up any tree this entire season so far...i set up a ground blind a few weeks ago and went to hunt it yesterday...couldnt find it anywhere, i thought someone had stolen it...until i got closer and saw that the past weeks snow and wind flattened it down...took me a few mins to pop it back up... SOOO MUCH WIND THIS YEAR, seems like every time i've been out i'm expecting to get picked up and land in Oz

Personally, I have stands near my property line near all sides. I don't care if you are a sharpshooter or whatever, any deer has the potential to run hundreds of yards any direction they want when shot. I've tracked a deer 500yds with a destroyed heart. Literally nothing left, shreds....If the deer ran south instead of north it would have been on his property. Can't blame anyone, I believe the expression "s**t happens" covers this. I think he did right for how he handled the situation....to each there own. Who is anyone to judge anyone on hunting tactics. To each there own. Good luck - shoot straight! I was hunting a piece of property upstate I was staying at a few years ago. A lot of deer and a lot of bucks. First morning in the stand I catch movement 5 yds to my right. It was the landowners HUGE Black Lab, thought it was a small bear. It walked right into my ground blind and put his paw on me....he stayed the entire morning just sitting watching with me. Saw a few does and he just sat up and watched. Pretty funny morning Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great....I have not found anywhere in the book about it nor can I understand how/why they would be illegal.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
