  1. Do you have any photo proof that they shot from the road and trespassed on to your property? That might be the only way you can pursue this issue further. Shooting of the deer is legal because they are considered state property but going on to your land would be a charge you could pursue.
  2. Thank You! I have read through 9 pages waiting for his answer as to what he packed for a sandwich, I am about ready to message him and find out.
  3. Wow this post went from a temper tantrum from someone losing their spot, to sandwiches, to the debate on hunting regulations, policies, common courtesies for Long Island to accuracy of guns. I am willing to bet most of the shotguns out there can out shoot my 45-70 Gov't how it is currently set up. But Rob is going to be one confused member after he gets done reading all about the shotgun posts.
  4. Wait did we figure out what kind of sandwich he had in the original post?
  5. Moving closer to the area almost seems like the best idea, but a major concern would be how the wind generally moves in that area? Is it an area you can move to and set up without worrying you will be pushing your scent on to all of the sign you just uncovered.
  6. Also I would pull the scope off the gun and make sure all your screws are tight, I once had a loose base screw and didn't know it. Couldn't figure out for the life of me why I couldn't shoot a group. Before you take the scope off, Mark the scope with chalk or something you can erase that way you get the scope back on exactly where you had it. Give everything a little tighten and just relax yourself for your first group and after I feel comfortable I always do like 15-25 jumping jacks to get my heart pumping and then take a free hand shot to see how I do. Get comfortable with you gun and don't be afraid of the recoil. The more comfortable you are with the gun, the more you can focus on the deer and be a natural motion without thinking about your gun technique.
  7. Well if it makes you feel any better, the first time I saw my first buck alone hunting I was shaking like a leaf on a tree and barely got my safety off before it ran ha, But hunting has its ups and downs, You are lucky you're not hunting with the party I hunt with because you would be missing a shirt tail ha
  8. If you have a hannaford by you, goto the cookie section they have knock off store brand Girl Scout cookies!
  9. So overall I am new to this forum and have tried using the App Taptalk or whatever the name is for this forum; the problem is I can't seem to comment on posts or use the site to the full extent. Is there any tips for using the app?
  10. Backwoods hunter, Tomorrow morning go back to your spot you shot him at, I have heard that some heart shots can pump so much adrenaline through the deer that they run upto 250 yards with barely any blood. I would go back tomorrow and do large circles marking the area hoping you can catch a drop here or there. Best of luck and don't give up until you are sure it is a miss!
  11. You sir must live a boring life, I would bet almost everything you eat has some sort of flavoring added to it to enhance its taste. Remember that next time you put ketchup on your hotdog, Montreal steak seasoning on your steak or some other flavor enhancing substance.
  12. Oh snap, This is making my decision on where I want to hunt this weekend harder, Either heading out to Forestport or Staying Local in 5s Area. I love hunting Forestport when a cold front comes through though because it is the best time to hunt out there. Good luck and Stay warm!
  13. I would be sitting where I see doe; only because I feel that the fresh smell for a buck in rut will keep him thinking more about breeding and less about rubs which are good to hunt at the start of the season. Right now focus on runways that the deer are following.
  14. If marinading them is a must, I like to get the Jack Daniels marinade bags from my local grocer or Walmart, Cut them up in strips and soak for 1-2 days and they are killer.
