  1. It was funny but I was pissed at the time because I broke the rope I was using to tow it with and then the force from that rope breaking just made the whole thing fly backwards and slip from around its neck. At that time I was exhausted because it was only me there to start processing it ha
  2. When trying this technique make sure you have a really thick rope or a chain (To pull the skin and to hold the deer), I learned the hard way and had my deer go flying to the back of the barn
  3. I agree completely Doc, If someone wants to boast about being a good shot get a piece of paper and go tack it up at some great distance to showoff to me. But when it comes down to killing an animal the most ergonomic shot should be number one priority, Not oh I might waste meat by that shot.
  4. I am completely against a head shot with any weapon, the slightest mistake and you could have a deer live through the shot that could affect them for a long time.
  5. Have you ever had smoked venison backstrap? My dad won the buck pool for our camp this year so he decided he was going to take it to a local processor and have some special sausage made, right before he left the guy said want to try smoking your back straps and my dad said sure, Smoked the whole strap and it is awesome!
  6. Damn that is a nice grinder, My grandfather gave me one he used to grind up pigs on, the thing is from 1950 and easily weighs 65+ pounds. Do you use your own seasonings from sausages or do you pick up premixed seasonings?
  7. This is my Big Couch Potato now that I figured out how to add photos
  8. Wood I am not sure when that starts, all I know is cableas still likes to send me ammo when I can get it
  9. On the gandermountain website! Hurry! 22.99 and free shipping
  10. I will let him send a 405 gr down range out of my 45-70 and see if he still rests his gun on the collar bone
  11. I also don't mind the Thompson Center hollow points, I have had some good results with them and to be honest walmart sells them for about half of powerbelts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I bet, I have long ass monkey arms so I have to have a longer now. I currently shoot a 1967.5 Fred Bear Super Kodiak that I draw 59@ 30. Someone redid the whole bow and put rattlesnake skin on the limbs and made a beaver tail leather handle. This coming season will be my first debut with it, only have taken it on a hog hunt in FL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Holy grainage man! Do you hunt in some thick areas or just a fan of the bigger piece of lead?
  14. Also reports later on said that it was likely to be a coyote with a extreme case of mange
  15. That is what I will have to do, now that I have graduated college I try to pinch as many pennies as I can so if they say $40 for a ramrod I know a place they can shove it and I will head to ebay ha Thanks for your insight!
  16. That is what I have been finding, Have you ever used a fiberglass ramrod? The internet description keeps saying "unbreakable" but the last thing I want to do is have another accident and this time have to deal with fiberglass in my hand.
  17. During early muzzleloading I had a little accident with my ramrod and it got a little bent, Someone mentioned to me that a cheap alternative will be to get a wooden dowel from a local hardware store. Anyone have any insight on this? Obviously I will have to find the diameter of a dowel that will be equal if not a hair smaller to my 50 cal.
  18. What type of projectile were you shooting? I use to use a maxpenetration maxiball and after one awful experience with little blood on a pass through, I decided I would be going back to a Polytipped Sabot and have had no problems since.
  19. Nice is that a take down recurve?
  20. Growing up my mom was always a cat fan so we didn't have many dogs. During my junior year of college she sent me a picture of a dog she adopted and it looked like a black lab. So on the weekend I hurried home and as I was walking in to the yard BAM there was this huge monster barking at me! Turns out it was a great dane that we named Lilly, She loves to go camping, fishing and hiking so it is a good find. She is also very protective of my Mother, Every night when my Dad gets home from work, Lilly will make it be known she can hear someone outside yet will rarely leave her spot on the couch.
  21. But I agree on the earn a buck program! Always have been a fan for heavily populated areas to practice E.A.B.
  22. Carbon, I think I can smell the can of worms you are opening up
  23. I hear you completely, I always like to know what someone actually means even if I don't agree with them, it is nice to hear the other side. I prefer to hunt Northern zone without a doubt so cutting the time I could hunt up there would hurt my feelings more than making Southern zone shorter. I completely agree that the state should go down to 1 buck a year per hunter, I feel that way people will think twice about a younger deer ect. I have always had a crazy idea that I would love to see happen, but people would think I am nuts ha
