  1. Ive been messing around with these new Nockturnal nocks and I like how they are performing. Its a pretty failproof system, and they are affordable. I took a video shooting, bow seems so much louder eccoing in a big empty shed. Don't preach to me about my shooting direction, I can see if people are comming from a long way. I have to shoot the lower right of my block target because its falling apart.
  2. It sucks, all I want is a couple of does. Antler crazy guys get permission for a good size property and glom it to themselves, happens with unposted and stateland too. Im glad I have my certain stateland spot, not a lot of deer but I never get bothered. I used to hunt a spot in Eastport when I was in Highschool until the owners son found out the size of the deer on the property and fenced it in and kicked me and my cousins out after we had hunted there for 15 or more years and showed him everything about bowhunting. He shot a monster 14 point his first year hunting there, I still say he baited it but well never know...............Sorry just venting.
  3. The foxes didn't decemate the turkeys, most of the ones they released were sterile. I heard this from a dec worker.
  4. Welcome to hunting on LI! lol unfortunetly guys like us don't, you gotta be a real swindler to hunt any private land pretty much.
  5. I heard the same thing. The guy at the old flyshop said that Gil used to invite a few guys everyyear for a hunt.
  6. Yes but you would be stupid to setup right behind someones house, it may be legal within 500ft but its not smart.........I put out 6 floaters and 6 to 12 fullbodies or silloettes.
  7. All I hunt is public land, the entire southshore of longisland is huge marshes, you can hunt pretty much anywhere. BUT....you need a boat, there are not many places you can just walk into. Pretty much if its tidal its legal as long as your far enough from houses.
  8. I live on the southshore of LI, We are allowed 8 geese here til march 8th.
  9. I use a mix of greenhead gear fullbodies, and bigfoot floaters. You hunting feilds upstate or on the island? Worked for me on sunday.....
  10. I am going to try fox hunting this febuary myself on the island, Is Buckshot legal for predators?
  11. yea.....forgot to mention that about that part of Otis. Alot of kids 4x4 back there with their jeeps and cause alot of ruts and mud pits.
  12. I beleive its only open to Riverhead residents....
  13. Theres gotta be someone that controls the deer population in there
  14. Don't worry about the ticks anymore, its to cold.
  15. You have to buy the permit, its open to suffolk residents with a green key. green key is 20$ for 2 yards and the permit is 30$. They aren't "Parks" they are just owned by the county and considered parkland.
  16. pretty crowded in october, and the ticks are terrible like everywhere else. I don't really hunt weekends there ever, I always go midweek when I get out of class. Find a spot and hike in a ways, I walk almost a mile to my stand and never run into anyone.
  17. I just put so much time in pre season scouting and hiking the parklands that I know the properties really well, I never run into another hunter, and just like my spots. so I stick to them.
  18. Everyone has to be a suffolk resident, I hunt the county lands exclusivly. I never hunt until mid october when everything calms down, and due to my school scedual I have been getting out in the past week and will more during the next month. Ive been seeing more deer than I do in october.
  19. saw a 6pt in manorville today on the suffolk land at last light.
  20. I duckhunt alot on the southshore of LI, and finfther is right, a dog is a hassel in a small boat. I hunt out of a southbay grassboat, almost never lose ducks because I only shoot at them when they are backpeddling into the decoys at 10 to 20 yards. Heres a picture of one of my boats.
  21. We may bring him there to butcher him if we don't do it ourselves, but our friends a taxidermist around the corner.
  22. He was shot about 3:15 pm and was sniffing around my friends stand for 20 minutes
  23. My buddy matt downed a biggun out of our public land spot in the pine barrens this afternoon. This is his first deer, and after hunting hard for 2 seasons he deserves it. I will be putting alot of time in this month since classes will be ending in the next week or so.
  24. Was in 4w last weekend to, the does are still with the fawns, and bucks have just started rubbing and scraping.
