  1. We own a home in Bonita Springs and have our fingers crossed.
  2. So glad I'm not alone. Had a hunch that was the case!
  3. I would definitely get some rye in there....still time for that and the deer love it. Good luck!
  4. Yep, it's dark when I go in the morning and when I come out at night, but if it's not an all day watch of course it's not.
  5. As we all know, hunting near food plots is often not a good idea due to getting busted as you enter or leave. Last year I built a berm which worked well, but I did get caught a few times as I climbed up and down. I hope to go undetected this year
  6. I take Luna to camp with me and the other members are happy to see her.
  7. Yep, there are 3 outbuildings. I keep my tractor and some implements in there When we go to Florida for the winter, my wife's car and my truck go in it.
  8. I think this is the area you think I missed :-)
  9. I can finally say that other than the landscaping, the barn project is over! It's pretty obvious from the color difference where the new wood is. I believe the difference will be less noticeable as it ages some.
  10. Yep....so am I! Won't be long now. Early bow starts Sept 27 :-)
  11. Started off in the Navy....Uss Constellation, Uss Holland, NAS Miramar, Uss Duluth. Switched to the US Cost Guard, 3 years on the icebreaker Mackinaw, 7 years at MSD Massena, NY, then retired.
  12. Had a very productive day today. It took 13 hours, but the red paint is on the barn. Tomorrow painting the trim and putting up netting to stop the *@$#% barn swallows from nesting and crapping on the new paint:-)
  13. 1 hr · The issue with the old foundation was caused by poor drainage which I hopefully have taken care of with this drain tile. Three 1/2" cables installed in the loft should hold things together for a long time. Gotta admit to being a little nervous installing these. We used chains and a come along to pull everything tight and those chains had a serious load on them. Next steps are renting a manlift and getting the painting done, then the landscaping. Before that happens....a week of R&R in Florida golfing with family and friends!
  14. What a great looking buck! Good luck this fall.
  15. Finally will be dry enough to get a truck in....concrete coming Wednesday afternoon. In the meantime we're replacing windows as necessary with new (used) ones. Today on the opposite side of the barn we addressed a dry rotted support beam by taking a lot of the load off it with an 8x8 post. The wall had moved inward 8"
  16. Awesome response backmaster....love it!
  17. Work continues on the barn. Replacing bad beams as we find them. Found a cracked main beam that will require cabling....picked up some 1/2" cable and that will be done tomorrow. Been raining every day and it's too wet to get the cement truck in. Plenty to do as we wait for it to dry up. Tiling job was completed today and I hired them to pull back the only part of the pond bank that was too steep to mow. I see some grass seed in my
  18. Here you go Paula. I'm going to line the banks of the pond with those rocks to prevent muskrat damage. Also, the farmer I lease 50 acres to is having my fields tiled. He's agreed to do one of my food plots at his expense too :-)
  19. Yep, that's a flagstick. I'm set up for 140 yard shot over the pond. Good eye!
  20. I hired two Amish guys to help me with my barn rehab. The foundation was shot on one side, there are rotten board, and the windows need a lot of attention. We've got the old foundation torn out and the footer poured for the new wall. Lots done in the first two days. These guys can work....they're killing me and I'm calling them my personal trainers.
  21. Hopefully you have good clay! Here's a great resource with national experts weighing in. Pondboss.com Good luck.
  22. If you see this truck up here...it's me -)
  23. John and Jolanta are truly a special couple! I didn't know you were involved when Sabina got gored and John got busted up....quite the story! I'll be coming in September to pick up Yukon....getting together for coffee sounds great. I'll be in touch as it gets closer.
