I started out as a kid around 12 running coon dogs with my grandfather and shooting squirrels behind the house. Then a friend of my gramps got me into chasing turkeys in the springtime. Chased deer with bow and gun with my dad and gramps as a pusher before I could carry a weapon and at 16 my first legal year I got my first deer and haven't looked back since. Hunting and fishing was the primary grocery shopping as I grew up. I was raised on if you shoot it you eat it. I carry on this way of life and am passing it on to my kids as well. So to me hunting and fishing are not a so called sport as much as a way of life.
