  1. Honestly the best thing you can do is scout, thats how you find the "best" spots. You can be successful in pretty much any piece of DEC or county park lands if your willing to give it time and figure the area out. Whenever a day comes around when the wind direction isn't good for one of my regular sets i'll put my stand on my back and slowly walk an area im interested in mid-day. when I find decent sign set up quietly and hunt the evening. I've gotten lucky with a couple big bucks I didn't know existed doing this.
  2. Nothing for me, never really saw the need.
  3. I'd try to shoot the actual nocturnal first and see if it flies differently. I know mine don't fly and different than my regular nocks.
  4. 100 GR. Slick Trick standards.
  5. Agreed, most guys have a very hard time aging a deer that still has his "summer body". Once that deer starts to get a little testosterone in him people will swear he's older than 5.5. Definitely a beautiful deer that goes a long way to show what time can do. Genetics and nutrition are great but the #1 factor is age.
  6. Got my second buck dec 4th. Time to lay down some does!
  7. I only hunt public land, and run 8-10 cameras throughout the season. Your gonna lose some but what you can figure out from them in priceless. Don't buy expensive cams. I usually expect to lose 2 per year to thieves but not gonna let them stop me from finding the bucks im looking for.
  8. Had this guy at 25 yards 2 mornings in a row past 2 days. He's lucky he's only a halfrack
  9. Some decent spots on Otis pike. Gotta put time in there and figure out what the deer do once they start getting pressured. I know several guys who are regularly successful there.
  10. Shot this guy opening morning and have been out probably 12 days since. He was the only decent one I saw
  11. Haha no shame, i hide my face because of my line of work. the pics around my house and stuff all have heads included lol
  12. Absolutely right Geno I've got 6 that make the books including another 8 that is in the 150's and none of them are entered nor will i probably ever enter any. This one comes in at 153 5/8
  13. Yup its him. Cant believe i came across that!
  14. Yea i thought it was cool. waiting to hear back from Geno to see if it was the same area.
  15. Sorry no mount i like euros much better EDIT haha sorry i dunno why it keeps loading upside down.
  16. Not sure why i can't upload pics upright but heres the scoop. 1st pic i passed him multiple times during 2010 season, never found his sheds. 2nd pic was captured about 1.5 miles from where i shot him. When i shot him i made a less than perfect shot, only single lung. he ran about 400 yards so i backed out and retrieved him the next morning. due to poor blood and the long distance i wasn't really sure of his path when he broke his rack. spent weeks looking for the antler with rakes and a few buddies no luck. The measurements of what i believe to be his slightly smaller side based on the pics i do have of him are. 23 7/8 MB 8 6/8 G1 10 2/8 G2 8 3/8 G3 4 6/8 H1 4 2/8 H2 4 0/8 H3 3 1/8 H4 His left G1 is 8 7/8 and i gave him a 22" inside spread but i think he was probably slightly better. Totaling out to 156 7/8 IF DOUBLED.
  17. Hate to bring up such an old thread but I think I can shed some light on this discussion. Recently found this forum and was looking through all the old threads. I shot what I believe is the question buck in November 2011. Unfortunately while he was running away he busted his main beam, the broken piece was never found after lots of searching. But the deer was fairly symmetrical and the broken side was the larger one so I figure I can give a "halfway decent" guess on his score by doubling the smaller side and estimating width. Im at work now but tomorrow I will post his measurements and a couple pictures.
