He doesnt have to prove anything. After serving his time his debt to society is paid off,that is the idea behind the jailtime,is it not? He should not be discriminated against because of his bad choices years ago.

I am still working on understanding that. I do love using milkweed on my way in and on my scouting trips to see what the wind and thermals are actually doing. I am looking for points and beds on the edges of cover more,but i need more practice and confirmation of what i am seeing. I guess like most everything else it doesn't happen overnight.

You are right,we do already have that. I think it could be improved upon,like most things. I totally agree about your statement that some people will never be able to support themselves. I know a guy through my wife who was screwed grom the get go. The mother was drinking during pregnancy so he ended up with fetal alcohol syndrome. He does not connect many dots. He has a hard time holding down a job. He worked for me for a very short time and i am using the term worked loosely. He did manage to father some kids,not sure how many and i think neither is he. I have no clue what to do with people like that,but i dont think it is their choice to live like that. I also completely agree with the 2nd chance for prisoners. Debt is paid,so it should be a clean slate.

What is your proposed solution to it? All the arguing we engage in happens so no meaningful change happens. The right vs left media,polar opposition,who benefits from that? Some politicians making money,for sure. But that pales in comparisonto the money the super wealthy are making by exploiting the systems weakness. Walmart kept a lot of their associates working part time and that way avoided having to pay for health insurance and retirement for them. Guess who picked up the difference when those associates had to use food stamps or showed up at the E.R.? You and me. Or for a more current issue,amazon trying to prevent a union from forming?

That is the problem i am talking about. Monopolies only offend when you are affected. Facebook anyone? twitter? No one cared until they took trump offline. Any business that approaches a monopoly should be under close scrutiny by....you will like this @Grouse... the government. I do not propose outright socialism,there is a lot of space between that and free capitalism. I dont object ro people profiting from innovation or their work. I object to the crazy tax system that allows people with lots of wealth to find lots of ways to not pay their share. I am also not saying that money should go to poor folks but could be used for debt reduction,or health care for all,or a million other things.

Well,socialism being greedier than capitalism is a bogus claim. Greed is what ruins any political system,no matter which one it is. The claim that free Capitalism benefits all is bs because once people get a certain amount of money and or influence they do not operate on a level playing field anymore. Most of the time it shows up as becoming a monopoly and then taking advantage of that. Sort of like Big media tech which you guys are happily railing against.

I dont want any rich mans money,i am doing ok without government assistance. All i am saying that there is abuse on both sides of the money spectrum,some welfare folks are playing the system and some very wealthy folks are as well. Fact check that first statement. That is why it is so absurd. The tax rates you quoted might be alright if all the loopholes disappear. That's generally why it never happens that the tax code gets meaningful reform. There should be maybe 5 different rates and no write offs. Bernie was gaining momentum in the primaries and all of a sudden everybody dropped out and got behind Biden. Why do you think that happened? Some very very rich and powerful people got nervous and pulled some strings.

You got zoning laws in your town? There are a ton of things that have to be regulated because a lot of people are numbnuts or worse and you cant expect them to do the right thing on their own. My main rule for life is dont do to others what you dont want done to yourself,but that is too much to ask from some. Part of the reason we need laws.

Yes,i do. The income inequality of today is unprecedented. Top earners in a company making more than 400 times what the lowest paid worker makes? Why? Everybody bitches about the welfare folks costing us money,but that is nothing compared to what the ultra ultra rich dont pay. Then you guys call it smart business,like a certain ex-pres paying less than you or me. And i dont care what political affiliation these ultra rich folks have,it is sick to want more. Who deserves to make 500 million a year? God maybe. That money is made but screwing somebody or something up along the way. Wealth distribution was more equal in the middle ages than today. So yes,a cap would be a great idea or a very steep tax once you are worth more than 100 mil.
