To answer the first question it was an old skull, and no it was not at lauden it was at big pininsula I saw one deer in there the first week of the season since then I have seen at least one hunter every time out and no deer.... I hate crowded public land

Yesterday I was walking to my stand at the kensico reservoir in westchester. About 10 yards into the woods along the tral I always take there was a does skull bones only stuck to a tree about head high. I'm not really sure why I was bothered so much but I feel like I don't want to go back there it's public land and aparently there are some a$& hol:/s on it

Hahaha I really hope the orchard isn't crowded I paid 200 dollars cause I'm sick of seeing other hunters every time I go to kensico which by the way I have only seen one deer at kensico all year

Skully where should I be prepared for someone sitting on my lap at the orchards ?

Is anyone here form Washington county, Im looking into buying between 20 And 50 acres up there to use as a vacation spot for the family and a hunting prosperity for me.. How is the deer hunting up there. I know i like the area just curios how the deer heard is

I knew I shouldn't have answered the phone when the boss called especially in front of my wife who would kill me on passing up the extra hours... And to top if off I have seen 3 does 2 little guys and 1 decent buck all on the lawn outside work... Bow is in my truck hmmmmmm, just kidding

All very good advice I will deffinatly be in the woods there is a point where the trees make a right angle corner that sticks out into the field one side has apples the other has corn I'm gunna go back in those woods about 30 yards where the trails leading to the apples and the trails leading to the corn Intersect

What about hunting back off the fields in the woods do you guys think that is a good option

So I have access to a new area to hunt it has standing corn and apple trees on the property which would you hunt, secondly at both locations there are no good trees to use my climber that have good shots onto the field do you this I would be ok using the climber 10 or 15 yards back facing the trails the deer are using to access the fields

Crappy I believe there is a recipe thread already and a friend of mine worked at crew when I was in school. How did you like the food. Here is a quick receive take a piece of back strap cost with salt and pepper... Sear on high hear in frying pan cook until medium rare. Remove the meat shut off hear and add 1 shot of blackberry brandy. Burn off the alcohol and reduce by half. Add 1 cup of redwine and again reduce by half serve with sautéed mushrooms and onions.... You can sauté them in the same pan as the meat If you want and add the brandy and wine to the veg mixture

You can shoot a bear in any season... If you shoot me a pm I'll gladly direct you to a gun spot that is off the beaten path. I saw the bear in a bow only area

Bkln where do you hunt Hyde park i lived in they Hyde park condos when I went to CIA

Just got into my stand wanted to be here earlier did chores around the house to make my gf happy this morning. Got to my stand Around two realized I left my phone in the truck and had to run back my gf likes to text from time to time to make sure I'm ok. God only knows what she would do if I didn't answer for three or more hours I'd have the CIA looking for me

Has anyone evere hunted any of the apple orchards In northern westchester I spoke to the owner of one today and he allows hunting from November 1st to season close for 200 dollars he has apples and standing corn on the property is this worth it

Mmkay thanks for the idea I contacted one of the orchards and was actually able to gain permission to hunt on their land

I did call they said they were going to look into it

Does anyone have any private land in westchester that they would allow me to hunt on. I have been hunting for 3 years with my bow only and have yet to take a deer.. If you have private land that you would be willing to share please let me know

I was in sterling opening day bow this year, I was deer hunting in a bow only area off a field edge about 200 yards from the parking area, I heard noise behind me and turned around I saw a decent sized black bear walking through some brush. I drew my bow and waited for her to show her vitals. I took a shot that aparently hit a twig and deflected off to the left. I nocked another arrow and drew again because she seemed un disturbed by the first shot. Right before I pulled the trigger on the release I saw movement behind her and stopped my shot as I saw a tiny cub emerge from the brush. Thank god I missed the first time I would have been heartbroken if I saw the cub after killing her. He was walking a wobbly reminded me of belu from the jungle book.. I tried to get my phone out to take pics but before I could they were gone
