About 200 yards but what I did is walk away from the parking pull out before going into the woods, I found a very nice funnel between food and bed that I'm going to sit tommrow afternoon. Depending how that goes I may scout/ still hunt on wednesday farther out on the peninsula
  3. Shawn, I was at big peninsula in kensico no guns alowed there, someone mentioned fireworks to scare birds but this was deffinatly a shotgun blast trust me I can tell the difference

So I've been hunting for a few years now, I live I. Westchester and just began bow hunting, I have tried hunting In the area around kensico. I have seen one deer and 10 hunters does anyone know of any good public places to hunt in 3s or have any private Land they would share.... Has anyone ever tried to ask any of the apple orchards if they can hunt there after picking season is over

  9. Nice I was at sterling forest in orange last week saw a decent sized black bear and her cub but again no deer
  10. Lol it just seems to me that deer and a lot of other animals use pee to mark territory and each pee has a distinct smell. That human piss would scare the shit out of deer.... I always pee to
  11. Was just curious what people thought about taking a piss from your stand does the smell blow your cover. P. S. I'm in my stand and have to pee
  12. So I'm sitting in my stand in westchester and just heard two gunshots, seriously what the hell is wrong with people I'm on dep land that does not allow an guns at all. These shots were very close had to be 200 yards max..... Oh yea and I have seen no deer all morning ????

  14. hey, how is everyone. i havent been on in a whiel. can anyone recomend a good guide or outfitter that is within 5 hours of new york city. if you can i would really appricate it.. my job is nuts and i dont think i will have alot of time to do the scoutting that is needed to hunt the public land i have been hunting.
  15. blue point is great you should try the beer rastafarye that they make it is fantastic. also for any of you that really like good local beers the brewery in peekskill is great they have about 8 beers that they make in house and a very extensive list of other micro brews. not to mention that the food is fantastic i had friend pork cutlet with spatzel and braised cabadge and it was amazing the best ive ever had and im a chef
  16. So i was kinda curious to hear why evryone hunts im sure its for all different reasons. some back round on me. im 24 years old and have only been hunting for 2 years now. i started because i am a chef by trade and came to a personal decision that if i am going to serve meat to countless people ever week then i should be willing and able to harvest and animal by my self and take that animal from forest to table without the help of others. the butchering is no problem because if the skills i have developed as a working chef. i mustg say between my love of the out doors...im an avid hiker in the warmer months and my passion for food hunting has become my new favorate hobbie. any way it would be cool to hear some backround on all of you guys and if anyone with more expirence than myslef is looking for a hunting buddy let me know
  17. wow it sounds like there are alot more deer down there then where im at i havent seen anything all season
