Just because westchester is listed for woodcock does not mean you can do it with a shotgun . You can't cherry pick the law it don't work that way . But hey when they arrest you, you can have fun paying the lawyer to litigate your case . Don't that tell you something no ok go find a place let me no those on the list don't allow it those towns don't allow any firearm discharge . Go find a place in westchester that lets you hunt with guns and get back to me. I will be waiting a long time lol

Do your self a favor only gun hunt where the law clearly states you can do so . Those dep lands in westchester if you go there the blue signs show bow only on them . That's what matters. They show what you can use on the signs . Cop shows up first thing he is going to do is point out the sign on the property. Now maybe you can talk your way out of it by showing him the website. But seriously do you really want to put yourself in that position don't think so . Unless you happen to know someone in westchester with a 500 acre farm don't even bother the people that live around those dep lands will call the cops on you .

Look i know for sure because I hunt there you go to the places on that list in westchester not one let's you use a gun to hunt its on the blue signs what you can use it will have a symbol for a gun if you can use a gun not one has that I have been to all of them in westchester. If it is not on the sign it is not allowed. Now you go argue with the cops when they catch you if you like .

No I hunt in westchester you cant use any fire arm try it and you will be in handcuffs no firearms at all not for small game not for anything .the dep site is wrong

I'm calculating the time it takes to walk in and out so its more like 3 1/2 in one spot . I have jumped them more then once walking in and out of this area so I spot and stalk walk really slow you never know when they will pop up .

True but after 4/ 5 hours out there you start to get anxious to hunt something . And there lots of those tree rats around my spot thinking why not pop one on the way out if nothing else shows .

Well I can tell you that if you don't have it on all the way up and tight it's a problem last year had a turkey come with in 4 yards of my pop up blind first time i using the thing. and had the mesh half open the arrow hit the mesh and changed the arrow path . Make sure you have it all the way up or down it can get in the way if you have a really close shot your sites will be above the mesh but the arrow path will not as what happened in my case lesson learned.

I'm sitting in my spot with my bow and notice lot of squirrels around Deer not showing up thinking I should start squirrel hunting to pass the time . Never actually tried hunting squirrel with my bow before what's the best arrow hEads to use for that looking at some Judo Small Game Target Points . Anyone use these things do they not dig in to the ground or damage arrows if you miss ?

Be careful with that there are mistakes on tge dep website some county's are bow only!!! And they have some listed wrongly as bow and shotgun only . General rules apply over what ever they say if the county is no firearms for example like in westchester you cant use a shotgun . Which they have mistakenly put on the dep website for a few places I noticed

From what I understand if it makes them try to eat the ground branches or what ever you put the stuff on it is illegal . So I guess if you put it high enough on a tree where they can not feed off it just smell it at a distance it would be ok ? Like dip a rag in the stuff and hang it on a high tree branch out of reach of the deer . Or am I reading the law wrong

I think spraying something on you that they like is a way better idea . Deer going to smell you no matter what but if he smells something else that it likes it may come in your direction all the same.

Yep that's what I thought you breath your leaving sent only way to stop leaving sent is to be in a airtight container like spacesuit I'm surprised someone doesn't try making one and marketing it to hunters . Guaranteed someone will buy it even if it's $5,000 lol when just being on the right side of the wind works and it's free
