  1. Going to try and sight in my savage .270. I've heard of going with the 3" high at 100yds to get maximum point blank range. Can anyone attest to this or do you prefer to zero in on a specific distance? Seems like MPBR makes the most sense.
  2. Went out this morning. Gonna go again tomorrow but maybe like a half hour earlier. Kicked up at least 3 on my way in and I only have like a 5 min walk. Had one wheezing at me a few times as I get in the tree. About 730 a small doe, 830 a small 4pt then my wife was being a wife and guilted me into coming home. F that! Going back earlier tomorrow and hopefully getting some super blood moon action lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. Is this the one with the monthly data plan that you need?
  4. Exactly! Thanks. I have a summit goliath. It's pretty quiet but I have to be extra ninja-ish and try to be aware of the noise I'm making.
  5. Yeah that's what I'm gonna shoot for. About and hour before, be up in the tree ready to watch. I'm lucky, I don't have that far to hike in, so I don't think I even need a headlamp until I get to the tree. It's supposed to be in the 20's overnight and only a high of like 40 tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get one in 9h. If not, I'm going down to Stueben co. mid week and next weekend near Wellsville and/or Greenwood hopefully. Might even tent camp or Jeremiah Johnson style rough it for old times sake.
  6. Just wondering what y'all prefer. I feel like the earlier the better, but I use a climber and it's always hectic as it is just before dawn in the twilight without killing myself. Thanks in advance for the info ...
  7. Huge 10ptr in Tonawanda hanging out and grazing w/ a fat doe last night around 9:15. Too bad they're radioactive around here!
  8. Congrats, where ya at? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. I have a pair of Irish Setter Trail Phantoms. They're a few years old and have held up really well. Nice quiet boots, stay dry. I've dunked them a couple of times on accident and stayed dry. I haven't left them submerged to see if they were truly waterproof but didn't want to find out and get stuck w/ wet feet.
  10. Thanks. So I went out yesterday and was surrounded by gobblers it was crazy. So of course today I bring my shotgun and three deer cross the street onto the property as I'm parking. Choices choices ... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks for the info. He's grouped right there with them. I mean, they're all coming into and going out of the field close together in a group. They'll feed or hang out in the field and leave I assume bed down together. I'm going to try to sit in my blind for the early hours and then get in a tree that's even closer to where they've been coming out. I have to find a good tree in the day light and hopefully come across them in the afternoon. I gave some light rattles and a nice long buck grunt and they all came right out, it was awesome!
  12. I went out yesterday afternoon with my 12 year old cousin to set up my pop-up blind for Saturday's sit. It was his 1st time "hunting", he just went along, didn't call or anything just observed and had fun with the binoculars. It was nice, he really liked it. On 10/1 sunrise, I saw 2 doe (1 big, 1 a little smaller but a keeper), a fawn, and a buck. The buck was a really wide 4pt maybe even a 6pt, about 100 yds away. It's gotta be a young buck right? If he's still hanging out w/ momma? I think he's 1 of 2 males that I've been seeing since last year. I've seen this family of deer for a few years now. I saw them again last night at just about sundown, this time at about 50yds. Is this typical behavior for a male w/ a nice wide rack to still be hanging out w/ the fam? Can't wait to get back out there this Saturday, hopefully see some turkey too. Thanks for any info!
  13. I have one of those too, no luck yet. I'm still a newbie though Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  21. Maybe a dumb question, but what are quick and efficient ways to put down a wounded deer that has been injured and immobilized by an arrow? I've only been bow hunting deer for a few years now and saw a mention of this on a different thread....
