  1. I went for turkey with my 12 ga. in my honey hole turkey spot on Saturday, and saw a bunch of deer, no shooters - a young small buck and a doe with her 2 fawns. Not a single gobble all morning. So Sunday I went up in a tree with my bow and right at sunrise a big loud gobble! Dammit!!!!!!!!!! Then a while later a pair of gobbles and some raspy yelps. not a deer in sight that day wth, go figure! Well I'll try again this friday dusk maybe and then Sat and Sun.
  2. I know what you mean. No matter what I'm up all night laying in bed like a kid oin Christmas eve haha! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. So don't you worry about the scent or whatever from the bug spray? I'm thinking of covering my stuff in some tick repellent but was worried about the smell ??????
  4. Can't wait to get out there early tomorrow am! I've seen turkey every time I've been sitting in a tree hoping for a deer this fall. So, naturally I'll see my bucks tomorrow while I'm sitting there with my shotgun looking for a turkey. They've been very noisy in the ams the last few weeks so I'm hoping they stuck around. Well hopefully I'll be able to post a nice pic of a hermit gobbler tomorrow....
  5. Hello, I was talking to a coworker about hunting etc, and how I'm hoping to snag a bear this year. She mentioned her father in law had processed a few last year and had said how it's terrible and jnot worth taking because they're greasy, nasty, gross, yada yada..... Buuuuut I gotta see for myself. So any delicious bear recipes out there you guys and gals could refer to me would be beary nice. see what i did there?

  7. I agree it's risky, but how sh*%y is it to be conservative in NY already? We're literally not welcome here by our own emperor Cuomo lol. There will never be a time that NYC doesn't dictate the politics in upstate NY, so waiting to act will not help either. I know it's a tricky long shot but so was taking on a King and the biggest military at the time this country was founded. I'm glad they didn't wait for a better time. I don't mean to argue, just to make some points and hopefully change a couple minds.
  8. Politicians would be paid an additional $79,500 which would essentially be 'double dipping'. And that never sat well with voters, even in the Peoples Republic of New York. That would jeopardize their re-election efforts, hopefully. Voters elect 204 delegates. Hopefully we/me/you participate to work for changes the people believe should be made. Like, NOT paying pensions for convicted elected officials, Term Limits (holy god please), and making it easier for third parties to get onto the ballots and taking steps to end the failed two party system.
  9. That's where participation comes in Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. Definitely And don't forget to vote "yes" on constitutional convention. Don't let fear defeat reason! p.s. - Taxation is Theft
  11. Man I'm pretty sure I'm ready to go. I have the morning all played out in my head. Get up early, get there early, get up in the tree early, get this guy early. Didn't have a spare memory card so i just snapped a picture on my phone. Started seeing him and his buddies in July. Clothes are drying and gonna get sprayed. Gears ready. Trucks full. Now if I could just fall asleep! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. Hello All! Well I don't know about you but I'm starting to get stir crazy and can't wait till bow opens up and even more pumped for gun season. I hunted East Otto State Forest last year and saw a huge big bellied buck but my inexperience got the best of me and when I stood, something in my pocket shifted and 'clanged' and that was all he needed to hear to get the hell out of there. I've heard that McCarty Hill in Ellicotville is good hunting and not crazy packed with morons shooting 6-10 times at the same deer in a few seconds like I experienced at East Otto, it was a warzone! I camped there for a few days and as soon as gun opened it was like a parade of hundred or so cars/trucks/vans/atv's nonstop pulling into the forest. I'm starting to scout McCarty Hill, it's way bigger, and supposedly less crowded because it's a little further from Buffalo, but it's pretty up and down as far as terrain goes. Any tips or warnings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Buffalojay83
  13. Mojo has a thing called a scoot and shoot. Basically, you army crawl in a field behind a 1/2 Tom decoy with a spread fan and supposedly turkey will come within pistol or even arms reach. But I feel like that's like hunting while hiding behind a deer decoy in the fall. Bad idea Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. Bad tactic, scoot n shoot is a risky idea Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. Practice practice practice. Come April I keto my mouth calls in my truck and practice when I'm in the truck. I found putting in your mouth and saying "chuck, chuck " is best. And I only call once or twice every ten minutes at the most. I had a great year last year and found that most of my focus is on staying as still as possible pays off. The long time in between calls can get the gobbler it looking and investigating. I sit in the tree line and put a few decoys just into a field/clearing and I face into the woods. Good luck! 17. I definitely need boots for the colder Temps. Any recommendations? I have some Irish setters, but they're not keeping my feet warm enough. Two pairs of thick socks and still pretty cold. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks for the info, I'll wear it. Safety 1st! Got a new baby and beautiful wife to get home to Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  20. I'm on state land so I'm going to,but was wondering. (NY) I'm going to sit in my climber and let everyone else push deer around. Also....is it a good use to gun hunt (.270) from a tree stand? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  21. Was out all day today. Well a little late start but, Wales into the woods parallel with and saw 4doe with 2 spikes then after I was up in the tree had a monster 10 with a big ol belly came out but I blew it and spooked him I think. His nose was to the ground. He didn't take off ruining but knew something was up. On my way hike to camp I found another little tall and checked it out and jumped a big 6pt. He definitely ran off. Gonna try and get in a spot in the dark tomorrowand just sit and let all the other guys here on state land push deer around. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  22. Nice job. I'm jealous. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. Well, My buddy bailed on me last minute and I have a week off sooooo I don't want to waste it. I was going down near Wellsville, NY and now I'm stuck... I've camped at East Otto before, it has some nice topography and a couple streams, also surrounded by some farms etc. and a good amount of woods. Just seeing if anyone can recommend this place for bow and gun. I'm guessing it's gonna be very crowded on Sat., I've been lucky to be able to hunt private land for the last 2-3 years. I can still hunt the private on gun opener but it's like 50 acres and surrounded by some woods but there's like 5 or 6 other guys there and it's not a lot of room and I'm " the new guy" (but I'm also family of the owners. (In-laws) -thanks in advance
