Had to go in to warm up and get some grub. Back at it now with a weapon I’ve never used before... the crossbow. It took me a while, but, I’ll accept it’s a real deer hunting weapon. I had no good reason not to use one before, I’m just a creature of habit and my compound always worked. Moved a little south on the property and have a good wind. Good luck to everyone this evening. Had my first sign of bucks looking today. About 200 yards out had a buck follow a does every step, maybe twenty yards behind her. Just had a five point stroll by as well. Good luck everyone!

I think it’s at least a 4 point, just tough to see with the lighting and background, but, I don’t have my glasses on either so I’m not 100%.

Bumped a whole dang herd on the way in. Looked to be 6 or 7 flatheads and fawns, nothing else... tomorrow is another day.

To know his age I’d need to have a better idea of where he lives... where did you say that was again?

Seeing 8 different bucks would be an awesome season! I only know of 7 here and have laid eyes on 3.

So far quiet here in 7A, squirrels and birds is all.

Back in the stand after a quick 10 hour day at work! Feels great. No work again until next Thursday. Feels right today...

I hunt because I enjoy the outdoors and want to pass it on to my children. I may also enjoy trying to outsmart a mature whitetail buck... sometimes I think that makes me crazy.

Rain has started here with some pretty gusty winds, I’m heading in. Good luck to those still out. I’ll see what the afternoon brings, but, according to my local weather lady it’s not going to get better today.

Congrats WNY! Awesome buck! I saw 6 for the evening. One wide 8 I’ve been after this year and 5 does/fawns.

nothing but one old guy tonight... oh well, that’s how it goes sometimes. I know I’m late to the bacon conversation but I feel I need to add my bacon preference. Microwave, about 45 seconds, drives my wife nuts. You can suck it down like a wet spaghetti and it doesn’t taste like burnt wood as she prefers.

Well, that was a unique encounter... caught some movement to my left just in time for it to go behind some trees. Pops out the other side and it’s an older gentleman. So I get down and walk over to get the scoop... says he’s walking a neighboring property and was looking for the lines, but, he’s been hunting it for years. I point him in the right direction and we shoot the breeze about hunting for a bit. At this point in time, what the hell? I tell him if he shoots somethig and it comes this way please feel free to track it, I hate to see a deer go to waste and believe in being neighborly. He thanks me and says he won’t be out opening day because he has a funeral. Out of everything, I think that’s what bothers me the most... is he pre planning one? Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s still 15 days away... no one is holding a human corpse that long!

My mom has a beagle that’s morbidly obese, that deer reminds me of her.

Been up a tree for a few minutes now... I can feel it, which one of us is going to get it done tonight?!?!
