  1. Anyone else catch this graph? I thought it had some pretty interesting data.
  2. Back at it for my almost last sit of the archery season. I have Friday evening left. I can’t complain too much, I have seen deer and the only reason I don’t have one in the freezer and on the wall is my own fault. Live and learn.
  3. Nothing until I was climbing down. Heard a blow and saw a white tail headed away about 100 yards out. Tomorrow is another day.
  4. First sit in two and a half days due to other obligations and poor wind directions. Good luck to everyone out tonight! reeltime, AMAZING buck, congratulations!
  5. Last I knew, you could get a medical permit to hunt with the crossbow for the entire season as well... anyone know if this is still true? My crossbow is 165# and even with just the rope cocking aide is a breeze.
  6. Back in for the afternoon. Nice buck, Roggs!
  7. In the pictures that you have of him, do you have an idea where he is heading? If you have photos of him going to a food source in the evening, and returning on the same trail in the morning, he is probably on a trail leading to his bedding area. My bucks here like to bed in a thick, new growth area that was logged about 6 years ago.
  8. Feet are frozen! One small fawn for the day. Hope this afternoon brings more luck. My daughter would really like to track one, it’s her favorite part, so I may need to break down and shoot a doe for her before gun season.
  9. That’s some bad arthritis!
  10. Anyone hear from @JaredA WNY8G? I thought I saw something in the rut report forum about him shooting a nice buck?
  11. Saw two bucks on my way in at 2:30... one of these days I’ll learn not to hunt when I can’t be in early. Don’t know why, but, nothing gets me down more about a hunt than bumping deer on the way in. Especially when ones a good buck. Makes me feel like the whole hunt is a bust from the get go and I’ll never see him again.
  12. I do not mind our seasons the way they are, and I am primarily a bow hunter. What I do disagree with is people being allowed to take more than one buck. I think you should get one buck whether it’s the beginning or the end of the season and you have to personally check them in at a station. Everyone has a choice of what buck makes them happy, no one is forced to wait, and you can have some venison for the freezer if that’s what you hunt for.
  13. Babysitter gets here at 1430... hurry up!
  14. Snow on the ground here, just a dusting, but it’s enough to make visibility better. I’m on daddy duty until 2pm though, so, I’ll sneak out for a quick 2.5 hour hunt this evening. Good luck to everyone out, I’ll be following along to see how things are going!
  15. All in all it was a good night. Saw two different bucks. One was good enough that I had the crossbow on the rest, but, he kept herding his doe back into the thick stuff and never gave me a good shot. What’s everyone’s opinion on this wind tomorrow?
  16. Just had my resident one point chase a doe and fawn out of the thicket behind me.
  17. Little late to the party, but, congrats on the buck sodfather. Good things come to good people. As far as the VS1 and the Evercalm, I’ve tried both and rarely had a deer in range while using them. I’d forget to put it out, see deer, and think “Shit, now I won’t know what they think of this stuff.”. In hindsight, I think not seeing them when it was out was what they thought of it.
  18. Just had a spike chase a doe out of a thicket. She still had twin fawns with her.
  19. 7A - Today was the first day I had any first hand experience with bucks on their feet due to the rut. Both morning and evening I had encounters with bucks following does. This morning was a small buck just trailing a doe. This afternoon it was a mature buck nosing a doe. Every time he would get close she would trot away 15 or 20 yards and he would quickly catch back up.
