  1. How many travel South of the border for the AP Flintlock Season? I'm leaving to go to my camp in 5 minutes. White smoke Black powder Blood in the snow! Good Luck!
  2. I picked up some of the Bushnnels that they sell at Walmart for $99. 4 AA Batteries 5MP and up to a 32GB card. Palm size. Takes good pics for what I use it for. The date is off by a month in this one. It should be 8/26/13
  3. 450 Bushmaster aka 450 Thumper http://www.hornady.com/store/450-Bushmaster-250-gr-FTX-LEVERevolution/
  4. Grouse populations are cyclical. The peak every 7 years. And so do the Fox populations in those areas.
  5. Just as appropriate today as it was 45 years ago.
  6. I use a Benjamin in .25 calibre. Knocksem' dead all the time.
  7. I hunted dove when I was younger. On our farm we always had a strip of buckwheat about 500' x 150' that would have seed come September 1st. We would line up one on each side on the outside and walk it out. We'd flush over 100 dove and usually limit out, 12 a piece by the time we got to the end. If you've never had dove, find a restaurant that has it on the menu and treat yourself. Dove hunts are a very big social event in the South. Many hunters will setup on the perimeter of a grain field and spend the afternoon shooting and hollaring back and forth at each others hits and misses. PA recently permitted dove to be hunted sunrise to sunset. Prior to that it started at 12 noon. A Federal Bird stamp is required as the season and limits are determined by the Feds
  8. The chainsaw can be considered equipment for field dressing game.
  9. Did you ever notice there's always a pet store or animal clinic near those Chinese Buffets? There was tiwt on talk radio last week worried about her cat. I hunt Yotes and know a lot of Yote huters. They are very dedicated and educated in coyotes and certainly know the difference between a 8 pound cat and a 45 pound plus Coyotes.
  10. The PGC is authorized to pay up to $25 per coyote, however it is not set in stone. They haven't implemented any procedure. They're concerned about coyotes taken in other states brought to PA for the bounty. Also, there are some that are concerned that domestic dogs and cats will be killed. There's a Commissioner meeting in January. I'm not certain if any discussion about the bounty is on the agenda. I'll check with my associates in the UBP and get back when I see if it will be brought up.
  11. I hunted in Maine several times. When the skidders shut down in the after noon 10 minutes later there were deer everywhere.
  12. The optimum load for accuracy and complete or near complete burn of the powder charge is 1 grn per calibre. ie 50 grains for a 50 calibre. The .58 calibre Sharps and Endfields used 60 grains of powder. A little more than that load you'll get a little more velocity and energy but the fouling of unburnt powder will increase. http://www.cherrytreefamily.com/muzzledixon.htm
  13. Better cheek weld and eye closer to line of sights. Don't try this with anything that has recoil.
