DOING A CONTROVERSAL ESSAY FOR ENGLISH CLASS
Robinson446 replied to Robinson446's topic in General Chit Chat
I begg the differ there my friend. And i can put up one hell of an arguement on how ted is great. and heres the final paper with corrections and some stuff added too it.... and the title is "It Goes Beyond the Kill" It Goes Beyond the Kill Jordan Robinson English 10 Mrs. Case January 19, 2011 Robinson 1 All over the world, hunters and gun owners have to overcome ongoing obstacles. Everyday, gun owners and hunters face politics on the battle to seize guns and hunting. Hunting has been around ever sense the first human has walked the planet. Hunting is said to be cruel and inhumane. In many cases, hunting is a family tradition that goes back for centuries. For many hunters, it’s not about the kill; it’s about all that goes into the hunt. Blood, sweat and sometimes tears go into every hunt. Emotional and physical abuse goes into every part of the hunt too. There is a lot more to hunting then killing an animal. For most it is not a sport, it’s a lifestyle. The great Ted Nugent once said, “There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident. The only misuse of guns comes in environments where there are drugs, alcohol, bad parents, and undisciplined children, period.” This means that only places where people are not taught that guns are not toys and guns are not properly taken care of will have accidents. Many people around the world think that a firearm should not be legal to posses in a household. Others think that a citizen should not have the right to carry a concealed weapon. They believe that households and personals carrying and owning firearms are the cause of most gun related crimes. Gun crimes and accidents usually happen when someone is not mentally stable or does not have the proper gun control training. Banning guns is like banning vehicles because there are too many accidents. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp is recognized all over the world for being a leading advocate for the right to carry a Robinson 2 concealed firearm. In 1991, Texas did not allow private citizens to carry a concealed firearm. Suzanna usually carried a .22 caliber in her purse for protection but a few months earlier she removed the pistol and put it in her car because it was illegal in most cases for a private citizen to carry a concealed firearm in their purse. She was out to eat at a cafeteria with her parents in Texas. A man drove his truck through the window and began shooting. He wasn’t after money, or valuable items, he was just out to kill. Her and her family lay on the floor and her father took a table and put it in front of them for protection. Suzanna realized what had to be done; she had to take a risk. Many people would say this risk would have been suicidal. She reached into her purse, but then came to realize that she removed the pistol from her purse months earlier. Her father knew that he had to do something and he had to do it quick. He said, “I’ve got to do something, He is going to kill everyone in here” (Gratia-Hupp 1). When he saw the man reloading, he rushed at him. The mad man shot him once in the chest mortally wounding him. Investigators said that his wife ran up to him as he laid on the floor dying, and hugged him, the man then stood over the couple and put a bullet in the woman’s head. Suzanna said she escaped through a back window (Gratia-Hupp 1). If Texas would have allowed citizens to carry a concealed firearm, Suzanna could have saved lives that day. Ted Nugent once said, "How many more times are we going to cower under tables and chairs, whimpering like mindless dogs, thinking that someone else has the responsibility to save and protect us?" Every human has the right to keep and bear arms as stated in the second Robinson 3 amendment. All it would have taken is for one person at the cafeteria to have a concealed firearm and the mad man with the gun could have been stopped before lives were taken. On a Tuesday, July of 2009, a ten-year-old boy was left home alone with his sister in Port Allen, LA. Two men came to the door of the apartment that the children were at, and knocked on the door several times. The men then began kicking in the door. Afraid and terrified, the two children ran into their mother’s bedroom and hid in the closet. In a panic and scared for his and his sister’s lives, the boy grabbed his mother’s gun for protection. The two men opened up the closet and began threatening the kids; the ten-year-old boy fired a bullet at one of the men striking him in the lip. The men ran out of the house and they were later arrested (Spunt 1). If the mother had not had a gun in her closet, who knows what would have happened to the two kids. Would this have occurred if it was a law that all households must have at least one firearm in their house? More then likely it wouldn’t have happened. A study shows that the number of crimes reduced when households started possessing loaded firearms (Data Masher 1). A robber would be more likely to rob a house that he knows does not have a firearm. But if it was a law that all households in the United States must possess at least one firearm, chances are robbers are going to think twice before committing a robbery. If the house hold teaches all that lives in the home to respect guns and those guns are not toys accidents will be more likely to not occur. House holds need to protect their families from the deranged Robinson 4 people of today’s world. Just because guns are around does not mean accidents will occur. That’s like taking away cars because car accidents happen. When most people think of hunting they think about animals dying and suffrage. When it comes to hunting, it's not about the killing. It's about everything that goes into the hunt before and even en after the kill. The mental and physical strain it takes on a human body cannot be explained until one does it. Hunting and shooting an animal may not seem life-affirming and reassuring to someone deathly sick or wounded. Some may think that killing something is the last thing a wounded warrior that served in a violent place such as Iraq wants to do. Wounded first class Sergeant Ronnie Gullion who served in Iraq said he did not care whether he lived or died. Another soldier encouraged him to go hunting. Ronnie Gullion said this after the hunt, "he did everything but pull the trigger for me that day. And my spirit did a 180" (Kocher 4). Hunting helps with building a person’s self-esteem. It assures them that they can still do something. They can still do what others without injuries can do. Its physical, mental, and spiritual therapy to someone who is sick or wounded (Kocher 4). Knowing that they can get out and do something that is so rugged can lift a persons spirits. It changes their mind from thinking about all the things that they can’t do, to thinking about all of the things that they can do. It gives them a chance to think and get a better outlook on life. James Vandenheuvel survived a roadside bomb that shattered his femur and tore away part of his right calf and also put a hole in his skull the size of a soup-can lid (Niskanen 1). James stated, "Combat and deer Robinson 5 hunting, though both involving weapons, are entirely different experiences" (Niskanen 3). Hunting not only can heal, but it can build a persons life. It can make them push through everyday to get to the next. "When done right and for the right reasons, hunting can be a safe, fun and valuable activity" (Donovan 1). Some people frown upon hunting and think it’s wrong to kill an animal. But when they see a fisherman it does not bother them. How does that work? Hunting and fishing both have the same outcomes in most cases. A hunter sees a deer, and its not big enough for his taste, so he lets the deer walk without shooting it in hopes it will get bigger and can be harvested another year. A fisherman catches a fish, the fish isn’t big enough for the fishermen, so he lets it go in hopes it can be caught again another time and it will be big enough to eat. The hunter may have another deer that is big enough for him to shoot provide a good shot to kill the animal quickly with little pain as possible. The hunter then takes the deer home to put food on the table for his family. The fishermen ends up catching a big fish, puts it in a bucket then takes it home and guts the fish and takes the skin or scales off of the fish usually when the fish is still alive. He then uses this meat to feed his family. What is the difference between the two ways of getting food? One may involve a gun but it does not mean that it is inhuman. Hunting isn’t all about killing an animal. In life there are something’s that are always going to be frowned upon but are still going to be there. Hunting and guns are some of those things. Taking away hunting and guns would only cause more problems in the long run. Hunting and guns are always Robinson 6 going to be apart of the world and apart of everyday life for many people. Guns are not the problem; the deranged, psychotic, and mentally unstable people of the world are the problem. If they take away hunting, they might as well take away the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Keeping and bearing arms is the only way to protect the ones we love. Guns are not bad, hunting is not bad. The only time guns are bad is when people that are bad get a hold of guns. A gun isn’t going to pull its own trigger. The world is unsafe, guns only make it safer. It cannot be stressed enough that guns do not kill people, crazy and deranged people do. Hunting can help a person. It gives a sense of accomplishment. It gives them the feeling that they can do something that they will never forget. It shows that even though a wounded or sick person may not be able to do it as well as someone who isn’t, or do it the same way as them, they can still do it. It gives someone who lost everything a reason to live. It gives them a “something”. -
Hey man, what about reloading bullets and shells and stuff?? my girlfriends dad does this for shotgun and it is fun to pass time and teaches you alot about bullets. Why not take that up?

Hunting jokes. Lets hear them boys. (and girls)

A young blonde woman was driving through the Florida Everglades while on vacation. She wanted to take home a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking. After becoming very frustrated with the attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the young Blonde declared, "Well then, maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator and get a pair of shoes for free!" The shopkeeper said with a sly smile, "Well Little lady, why don't you go on and give it a try?" The blonde headed off to the swamp, determined to catch an alligator. Later in the day, as the shopkeeper is driving home, he spots the same young woman standing waist deep in the murky water, shotgun in hand. As he brings his car to a stop, he sees a huge 9-foot gator swimming rapidly toward her. With lightning reflexes, the Blonde takes aim, shoots the creature and hauls it up onto the slippery bank. Nearby were 7 more dead gators, all lying belly up. The shopkeeper stood on the bank, watching in silent amazement. The blonde struggles mightily and manages to flip the gator onto its back. Rolling her eyes heavenward, she screams in frustration, "CRAP ! THIS ONE'S BAREFOOT, TOO!" -
