The only time I watch nascar is when they show it sportscenter for 5-10 seconds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I get the opportunity to hunt where a 75 yd clear shot is a possibility, I will practice and practice for it and then take it under the right conditions Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm sure they have lost deer. I never said they haven't. I'm sure I'll lose a deer at some point to. It's bound to happen. My xbow didn't take more than 20 shots to sight in and it's good to 40 yards. I'm sighted in dead on at 25yds. I shoot it a few days before hunting to make the scope is still on and it's good to go. Hopefully I'll be out there in NY with it this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here's a bowsite topic of longest bow kills. Hundreds of liars? I doubt it. http://forums.bowsite.com/tf/bgforums/thread-print.cfm?threadid=424364&forum=2 These are guys who don't just hunt whitetails from treestands and wait for 17 yard shots Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You think the kids shot is fake? It was a simple google search while I was on the train. I thought u quit this thread? http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bAOyY6yO9MQ here's a long rifle one for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another outfitter: Our archery desert mule deer hunts are conducted during mid December through January (during the peak of the rut). Since we hunt open terrain, expect archery shots to range from 30 to 60 yards. The further you can shoot with a bow accurately, the higher your chances for success. Archery hunts are 5 days and can be combined with javelina as an added bonus, provide you apply for a javelina tag. Archery deer tags are over the counter. http://www.arizonahunting.net/muledeer.htm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Even this kid can put it in the kill zone at 75yds with a Mickey Mouse bow http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SHo904pyZ30 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

465 yards I would hold top of the back. Can't miss unless I yank it. The range I go to is only 200yd max. When hunting and taking a shot past 200 I go by the ballistics. It's always worked. Only deer I ever missed with a gun or rifle was when I was 16 in Texas . I missed 4 times in a row. The scope turned out to be way off. Must have gotten jarred Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pretty simple. I shoot the rifles at the range 1-2 times per year and when I get to my destination for a hunt to make sure scopes are on. Rifles are sighted in at 2-3" at 200 yd, so they are dead on at 300yd. When Im hunting I either shoot prone off a bookbag or off a bogpod. When I go to Wyoming I will aim dead at 300yd, a little higher depending on how much farther past that. Last time out there I shot my mule deer at 330 yd and then finished him off at 440 yds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I said an arrow slows down with distance . As someone who has been out west, 60+ yd bow kills happen very frequently Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just more examples from a random western outfitter. Read the stories, 60-70 yards shot be taken over and over again. http://www.wardsoutfitters.com/hunting-stories.html Everyone can deny it all they want, but long range bow shots are successful way more than you guys want to believe. Not every long range bow kill is taped and put on youtube. Its the way of hunting out there and if I had a chance to do it, i would train for it and do the same.
-
That's correct. Majority of guys who bowhunt out west hunt spot & stalk style (no treestands) and kill at distances of 50+ yards. Most guys out there don't even own a treestand and would find it very boring sitting in a tree all day.

I dont bow hunt, only xbow and I said previously that I currently feel comfortable to 40 yards, but thats about all I can see in the heavy pine areas that I hunt. However, also like I previously, if I had access to an open food plot or was hunting out west for with my xbow, I would definitely take the time to become proficient at distances well beyond 40 yards. Once I was proficient at 75 yards (shouldnt take more than a day of shooting with an xbow), I would no doubt take this 75 yard shot if given the perfect conditions (no wind, broadside, un-alert animal, no chance of deflection on the way to the target, etc.) I would not limit myself to 30-40 yards if I could have opportunities at greater distances, just like with a rifle I have no issue taking a 300-500 yard shot. Good luck consistently killing a Coues Deer, Mule Deer, Elk, Brown Bear, etc. at distances of 18 yards with a compound.

Yea, so probably around 1 second after factoring in the decline in speed of the arrow at 75 yards. A proficient shooter at 75 yards, should be able to make a lethal shot on an un-alert deer standing broadside on a windless day. The arrow will hit the deer in approx. 1 second after being released. I dont know enough about Elk hunting, but do they "jump the string" like deer? I can't imagine they are as agile as a whitetail. Maybe this is why many people kill elk at 60-100 yards with a bow?

Thats from 2013.

gotta be around that 1 second mark.

His canned hunting show sucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm not going to fight over this. It's just my opinion that limiting yourself to short distances is silly. I have an xbow and I feel confident to 40 yards and wouldn't take a farther shot. However, if I had a farm or food plot to hunt or was going out west, I would definitely try to become confident at distances much farther. Many animals stand still for a full second and that's about all it takes for an arrow to travel to 75 yards. Again, I'm talking broadside, no wind, the deer is not alert, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Check out bowsite forums. It is filled with compound hunters who hunt around the world. Many 60+ yard shots are used by many members. Just because it's not commonplace in ny doesn't mean it isn't common elsewhere. It's not easy to sneak to the famous 17 yard NY shot on Coues deer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe I'm naive and everyone who tells me they do is lying. Many outfitters I have talked to over the years say they shoot mule deer and elk in the 60-100+ yard range with compounds. Either they are all serious or they all have the same lies Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Deer and elk are taken at 100 yards out west. 75 is 3/4 of 100 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
