So #2 daughter is going to PR . Must have proof of a negative test no more then three days out upon entering . She gets there noon on Sunday , so test no later then Thursday afternoon , test takes a day or two to get results,  cutting it close !

Now she’s fully vaccinated, well she still needs negative test ! Then with being vaccinated, negative test, you still have to wear a mask WTF .

they’ve moved the goal posts so much they’ve circumnavigated  the earth !

It is crazy. This wearing a mask afterwords is pure bs.

If they made it so you didn't have to wear a mask. Most everybody would be vaccinated quickly. Every person that I know that is not going to get the shots would if they changed that rule.

I am for legalizing all drugs, the only way to stop drug trafficking.  Addicts gonna be addicts.

And do me a favor and look up studies about the harmful effects of pot vs. alcohol. Not even a close race. I don't hear you asking about the cost to society of alcohol though.  Liver cirrhosis anyone? Drunk drivers?

As crazy as it sounds I think this is the answer.

Just look at the "war" on drugs. How well has it worked?

It's time we stopped smacking our head against the wall and  put our resources into better bets. Education, jobs, etc...

I don't pretend to know all the answers, but it is pretty obvious what we are doing doesn't work.

I’m thinking of selling my truck , mainly because I don’t use it. I bought it brand new in 2019.

Its a F150 Ruby red King Ranch. It only has 2000 miles on it . It’s loaded , chrome pkg, parks itself , tow package, heated and cooled seats , massaging seats , power running boards , power folding mirrors ..tons of other stuff.

Ford soft tonnue cover , Ford mud flaps , Ford bed mar, Ford wheel well liners ...

It’s never even been rained on . I keep it in my pole barn covered. The sticker was over 67k

I’ve been told take it to a car dealer and they will buy it , but probably not pay near what it’s worth .

Do these places like CArvana etc pay fair value and are they legit to deal with ?

Definitely a sellers market right now. Normally a dealer isn't going to pay much. You would be lucky to get trade in value. It wouldn't surprise me if they are willing to pay a higher price at the moment. Trucks are hard to come by. Trucks at dealers are sparse.

  4. Planning a  muzzleloader Elk hunt in colorado. 1st  elk hunt for both of us.

We have a semi remote cabin rented , but plan on having supplies to stay out 2-3 days at a time. I'm picturing areas that we may want to hunt that we don't want to walk back out of daily. It definitely is going to be a learning experience.

  5. I didn't care for history in school, but find it quite fascinating now.

It is pretty cool wandering around the woods and seeing signs of settlements or homes from decades if not 100s of years ago..  The Berkshire  hills stripped of timber to turn into charcoal. Or signs of an old town, field, or vineyard in Letchworth.

Pretty neat to try to picture what it looked like then.

Every year I seem to miss the boat on bullhead fishing because I'm too busy with this or that... I'm making it a point to get out rather often this year, especially with the nice weather settling in.  I made it out last night and only caught a few perch....

Id love to hear how some of you folks target them, what bait do you like to use , how to rig your setup etc... anything and everything

    Thanks!

My method has always been quite simple.

3/8 sinker on bottom. 1 hook 1-1.5' feet up and another 2-2.5' feet up. Thread some night crawlers on.  Set pole in the Y branch and wait. Set the hook on the bob. When they are biting good 2 at a time is not uncommon.

I know some like to fish at night but my best times fishing are the nice sunny 60° days. Mainly I fish the shallow back bays and channels off the local rivers .

I havnt done much bullhead fishing in a few years, but they ought to be biting now.

Cupcakes dont care about older folks or anyone less dedicated to the sport or less physically able than themselves.  They dont want those folks getting bucks that they dont deserve.  A "cupcake" is a compound bow user who opposes the use of a crossbow during any portion of archery season.

Ha. Ha. ;). That hurt, now you ought to be ashamed reverting to name calling. I do love cupcakes though !!

BTW. I'm all for those, who cannot physically use a bow, using a crossbow.

  8. I've  always gotten muzzleloader and bow tags, so I'm not sure what tag you would get if you only buy 1 privilege.

The muzzleloader/archery tags (antlerless and either sex )are good for muzzleloader and archery season. When legal to carry a crossbow you would use these tags.

Only regular season tags and DMPs can be used during regular season..

Archery/ muzzleloader, DMPs,and regular season tags can be used in late muzzleloader seasons..

There are a few differences for junior seasons, long Island,  etc..

Sometimes when I read something, I just have to chuckle a little. This is one of those times.

I have been, and continue to be a bowhunter for almost 40 years. Did my mentality suddenly change, the first time I shot a crossbow???

I certainly have never noticed a difference in solitude in the deer woods, when using a bow or crossbow.

Yup... after surgeries on both shoulders, my shoulders DO hurt sometimes! But I have re-habbed my butt off to get to where I can "sometimes" draw my bow.

I am, and HAVE been a bowhunter!! I like crossbow too! Is only one or the other acceptable to ME, decided upon by others I don't even know?

I do care if I shoot a deer!!!! But it matters little to me if I use a bow or crossbow at this point. I've killed a whole lot of deer with a bow. First one with a recurve. I don't have to prove anything to myself, or anyone else.

We are all different. We won't always agree. That is fine! No problem. Hunt your way, I'll hunt mine.

But I will "NEVER" fight against another hunter, because they don't hunt the same as me. Or they use a different bow, caliber of rifle, hunt from a tree, instead of the ground..............this list is endless! United we stand. Divided we fall. Simple as that. Look around, don't need to look too far to see that hunters are a minority these days. And partly, because of the bickering amongst ourselves! We are slowly eroding what we ALL love. All because of the closed mindedness, selfishness, jealousy, and fears, of a small percentage of our own!

Continue hunting how you like. Let others do the same. It's all good. Just hunting!

1st of all I will preface this by saying I agree with most of your views I've seen posted..

I hate participating in these debates , because it pretty much rehashing the sames old stuff.

Whenever I have proposed that we compromise, it seems to get glossed over.. Why not compromise?

A couple weeks of regular archery and then crossbow. Boom! Everybody is 1/2 happy.lol

I know in the northern zone the last week of our short bow season is open for muzzleloader.  This has totally changed our hunting experience. Once the # of hunters hit the woods archery becomes way more difficult.

I don't have problems killing a deer, regardless. So it doesn't make a big difference to me. I just hate to see another semi " traditional " hunting method disappear. The day will come when a compound is just as rare as a recurve or long bow.

And there’s where it gets tricky. The example that I have Experience with, Honeoye creek, for a lot of the summer is dry with a small mostly shallow running creek with deeper pockets that hold fish. When it rains a lot and in the spring, it’s quite a bit deeper and in most places 30 feet or more wide. The DEC officer pointed out that the defined creek bed, even when dry, is not private property. In the pictures below you can see what I mean.

It's funny how different officers will interpret the law.

I remember reading some of the case that is referenced by the DEC in my link.

Because of the ruling the fisherman could boat down the river, but could not anchor or walk the river, Except to Portage. In fact the land owner owned the river bottom.

I had done my research for some whitewater kayaking, and it pretty much came down to run it at your own risk and fight it out in court.. lol

this is only partially true.  If a single shot was as effective as an M16 then why does the military not carry H&R's?  lol

As much as we want to make this arguement it just isnt true.  If you were going to do something bad and an AR with extra magazines or a single shot and 4 pockets full of loose shells are your choices, your not chosing the single shot.  cmon.  That being said...

I am sure Al capone would have given up a life of crime if only they had made machine guns illegal back in that day.  Lol.  Criminals will buy any gun they can get.

We all think its a slippery slope if assault rifles are taken away. Whether anyone can face it or not they are designed to be military weapons and are not needed for hunting of any sort, nor self defense in  a reasonable day.  Yes god forbid i said it. Just most wont admit it.  For those that own an AR - other than some target plinking and the cool factor they arent anything else.  Now i have to state i am for 2A of course and i mostly side with fighting gun regulation. Hell i would love to get a .410 AR ive been looking at, I'd love to see pistol carry be consistant and legal with all the right checks and legalities gone thru.  But i am also able to see the arguements made and the points that are made. Do i think AR's should be eliminated - Im not there yet.  Do i feel all that threatened if they do.  Not really.  There is fear mongering on the right just as there is on the left.  If i thought it would solve everything i would just hunt with my bow and actually be happy with that. And yes i know guns are to defend against an overpowerful govt etc.  I get that. Put the fear mongering aside we arent having a war against our govt or amongst ourselves.  At least im not.

I would have to disagree.  For the methods these sick individuals use , a regular old shotgun with standard turkey loads would be more effective. Advantages of an AR show up more when you are under fire and this rarely happens in these shooter situations .When it does it usually ends pretty quickly.

Imo they use ARs because of how they are portrayed in the media not because of any real advantage.

  12. I'm guessing it's mostly in your follow through and or not settling in on the target well. As soon as you pull the trigger you may be loosing your form, letting the tension in your holding arm pull the bow.. Try not holding on the target for as long . Less concentration more relaxation..lol

I think the photo was very distasteful and had no place on this forum.  Just because someone is a certain way (size, color, religion, etc.), that gives them no right to poke fun at others who might be the same way.

Ha. ha. I see what you did there.lol
