Is the beer cost factored into that number ? With that many guys working on the barn I think you can round your $7,500 cost figure up to $10,000  LOL

Looking good G-Man. Its going to be nice having a practically new building when its finished.

That's why it looks like there are a couple underage helpers. Keeping the beer costs down..lol

Lmk how you like that angus, we are looking for  anew beef farm to order from. Local preferably!

Remember,  The whole angus fad is mostly marketing.

The main difference you will find in beef is the way the cattle are finished. Finding a farmer who grass feeds but still puts the grain to them at the end will make good beef.

You buying something bigger/better? Or downsizing?

    GL w.Sale.

Price was right  when we bought it. We figured it would be cheap hunting land or a good flip.Friend and I bought it together.

We both have too many pokers in the fire and don't have time to put in plots or cabin like we had 1st planned. Maybe if it's still there this fall e

we will build a cabin.. We  figured if it sold we would look for another piece a little larger or on some some water or finance our hunting trips, or....

There is no legal way to be charged when a property is not properly posted. I've asked my brother who is an attorney as well as different DEC agents. Its possible different if you have to walk up someone's driveway to access land, but as long as its vacant land and not posted, it would be thrown out in court in minutes.

I'm sure you are correct if one got a lawyer.. If not, it seems to stick.

You can be asked to leave and not come back, but you cannot be charged with criminal trespass if its not properly posted. If asked to leave and not come back, then if that person comes back, they can be charged with criminal trespass (assuming you have video evidence or written evidence saying that). Confirmed by a DEC agent

Not true that you cannot be charged. I have 1st hand experience on this.. (none of our lands are posted but people have been ticketed.lol)

I think often that people are not charged the 1st time.

Depending upon the situation a case could be made that one was unaware that they were trespassing the 1st time.

I've tried this exact technique. Didn't work.

I've cleaned small ones and large ones. I'm thinking it's the muddy water they live in.

It may be ? I have only caught them May through maybe the 1st weekend of June.  May be a difference there too ? They have all been channel cats too.

What’s the secret to cleaning them?

Depending on the size of the fish, you have to leave 1/8" of flesh/fat on the skin  when you fillet them. Afterwards cut the brown stripe that runs the length of the fillet  completely out.

I fish the lake Champlain international father's day tournament every year. ( LCI )

I've caught a 21+ lb cat. My buddy  has caught a 25+ lb cat IIRC. We won some money with the 21 lb cat I think around 2002? My buddies 25+ a few yrs ago didn't even place.  We've kept a few smaller cats to eat, and I'll never clean one again. Plain disgusting.

However, if caught early spring, in Lake Champlain, there not bad.

Ha.ha.ha. that's what we thought for years. Tasted terrible!

They were so fun to catch we were determined to find a good recipe. We canned , smoked , brined, marinated in milk, grilled, etc... nothing was good unless you liked that pure fishy taste...

Finally an old time showed us how to clean them. They are great ! Especially cubed up , breaded and deep fried.. yummy morsels..

Anyone ever spend any time catfishing in New York? In the last few years I’ve caught some very nice catfish in some local lakes and on the Hudson River on accident. This spring I have spent some time actually targeting them and have been having a blast! The closest boat launch on the Hudson is 3 minutes from my house so it’s as handy as it gets. Biggest so far is 16lbs. From my research it should keep getting better as the water temp warms and the lay move into the channels.

We did a fair amount of catfishing in the spring. Usually starting a couple weeks ago through the 1st few weeks of June.  Our favorite go to spots were below  dams.

I always got a kick out of a newby. They wouldn't take you seriously when you tell them to not leave their pole unattended. When they bite your pole just heads for the water. Lol

We never weighed them but caught many  30"-36"

Have you mastered the proper cleaning technique?

They also mentioned removal of all tree tops at no charge to be included in the bud is that normal?

Any logger that removes treetops for "free" is not being honest. There is value in the tops whether it is for firewood or chips..

If you don't want the tops in the woods for the wildlife and want a nice clean looking woods  I would be sure to hire a logger that has a chipper and sells chips. It seems like many of the loggers do these days.
