Probably not because the object of hunting and most hunters is to get game not nature watch that is why gun hunting is the most popular time of hunting season . Anything that helps you hunt more effectively gets used the most .

Not sure where this is going . If I already have a crossbow with scope sited in have it on a bench rest and let someone who never even shot a gun before pull the trigger they will hit the red on a target . If you just did that with a 70 pound compound bow . You are not going to get the same outcome. Holding a bow with one arm is never going to be as steady as using a rest that you can use with a crossbow . And the longer you have to hold your arm out the worse it's going to get . That does not mean it should not be used in archery. In fact you can make the case that it's more humane less chance for a bad shot .

I dont know but guys worrying about to many deer being taken with crossbows especially on private land are being paranoid. Compared to any gun crossbow is not even close to the effective range and number of different angles you can take a deer with it . And the deer take numbers I think reflect that . My only complaint is I cant buy the crossbow model I want because of there dumb width and weight rules .

They are the people from the suburbs and farm countryside That's why there piss off they unlike the people living in Paris that can move around by subway they actually are forced to drive the tax is hitting them the hardest. Yea because archery hunting is not a Olympic sport . It's really always been more about hunting then archery to most people . If people really wanted to just do pure archery they would just go and do 3d courses. Most guys buying tags buy them to hunt . If you told them you could get a extra tag to hunt with brick they would buy that one to . I see no problem with crossbows at all just have to make sure gun guys get there fun in to which most hunters probably value that the most The way it is now ok by me .

What ever NY makes off license sales got to be 10 x more then any other state if it's down they still making a killing and those other states most of them have better hunting people say .

Or they could raise the price on all the tags they sell now by 1 or 2 dollars and leave things the way they are now .

Be interesting to see if you did a experiment like this , have 3 pictures a recurve a compound bow a crossbow. And do a poll ask what is the first image that comes to your mind when you hear the word bow or archery and ask them to pick one of the three images . Wonder what most people would choose first .

How about they do away with the silly width rule and draw weight rule . A lot of the good ones you cant even use in this state its annoying . I bet those other states dont have those rules .

Once we got over the fact nobody really cares about what exactly archery is anymore why not just let in airbow much safer to operate. It uses a arrow or bolt close enough. Or at least get rid of the limb width rule

Yea right a wrist brace lol I'm sure even slingshots with wrist braces are illegal in NY state just imagine that thing which obviously can be used as a shoulder stock . Anything with a shoulder stock needs to have a 16inch barrel . And then if you do that you have created carbine with a pistol grip and detachable magazine which means it's still illegal in this state . I guess technically you can buy the parts and dont put it together until you leave the state or the zombie apocalypse starts

No that would turn your pistol into a short barrel rifle . You would need a special license for that probably impossible to get in this state unless you are in lawinforcment or a FFL dealer
