  1. It's not a trophy by anybody elses standards but who really cares. Today i got into my blind and around 17:18 ( i say around but this is exact times) i noticed 3 deer headed across the field at 126.5 yards so i got up when they went blind to try to cut them off on other side of scrub, i got over there...and got busted, looked over at my blind...of course theres a deer 30 yards from it walked slowly back over to my blind sat down doe had disappeared. Couple minutes went by and i heard crashing in woods next to blind so i drew back and started looking since i knew it'd be coming fast i looked to left and there was the deer RUNNING TO ME i sat up it stopped and went to turn and run and i shot it at that moment, the shot distance was a measured 11 feet 6 inches from me to where it dug its foot into dirt. So it took of back into the woods it went about 21 yards before crashing got up went 3 more yards and hit its head on a tree and went down and never got back up. the time was now 17:36 after 2 minutes of not moving i decided to get up and climb the tree and watch the deer thru binocs and no chest movement so i climbed down, hands first hit deer at 17:41 heres pics for those that want them 65# button buck
  2. in field early, wind is perfect where the app said it would be
  3. headed into woods around 2 pm today for a later sit. should be fun stands had a few days to cool down and the winds differant so i have to sit 60 yards further into field, hoping that puts me in unexpected spot
  4. holy shut nfa?!? to be honest i just took 200' of rope and made my own harness after that since i did set a stand, also remember its better to have too many treesteps than to have 1 too little and overstrech yourself at any point
  5. the deer are doing exactly what i expected, the first busted on draw was simply just me not waiting for all deer to be looking away (i missed a doe in the high grass that spotted me) then dad coming it the next day i think the spot may be burned
  6. well i got busted on draw day before but it didnt see me as a person so i set a stand and hunted it, and then during prime hour my dad shows up and yells to me in stand that it was time to go and naturally i didnt see any deer, how long should i let the spot sit before trying again?
  7. so i went out today saw 7 shot at one and missed, but i dont think they actually saw me before running, one did no doubt, but im going to place a treestand, that would put me 20 feet up and 15 yards from where i was today, will that throw them off enough where they're likely to mess up and think they're safe?
  8. saw 7 got busted at draw at 2:36 pm and missed a doe at 6:17
  9. fisher2

    got busted

well drew on a doe, and she spotted I had moved when her head cleared the tree, should I stay? I or give up the hunt
  10. first of all, good luck everyone getting out tomorrow. main purpose of thread now, CHECK YOUR HARNESSES. i was going through my stuff and i decided to check my harness, there was a rough patch on a clasp or something but it had worn a rough patch into a webbing rendering it useless. Granted i;m not a stand hunter most of the time. but remember to check everything is working well and remember to wear a harness be safe everyone, theres no number of points on any deer in the country worth being a statistic
  11. well yeah my dad also thought it was a squirrel but 6th sense wise said it was odd
  12. yes i assumed the previous guy was kidding, i shoot 5 days a week starting jan and ending around the next jan
  13. i'm just gonna borrow a bow from my uncle, i think my cousin has some arrows for his bow ill borrow one of those too
  14. talked to some locals and apparently theres alot of deer stolen, you go to get your truck and a guy grabs your deer, apparently it gets crowded
  15. ive scouted the berme park side in ellenville but thats it
  16. in 1972 my dad was squirrel hunting a ridge line for squirrel and he saw a gray blob bouncing up and down on the other ridge 75 yards away he pulled up his scope and noticed it looked odd still squirrly but was acting strange. as he watched it got lower and lower near end if ridge, and a police officer stepped out, in the 70's apparently their uniforms had gray hats, and he ripped the officer a new asshole about walking around in the woods on opening day of squirrel season on private land. moral of the story is if dad didnt listen to the dont shoot silhouetted targets rule of gun safety he would have killed the police officer as a real hunting accident. so yes these things can happen.
  17. I wear my camo jacket in the winter all the time, it's too big for bowhunting and i dont really need it for rifle but it's the warmest jacket I own, so it gets worn.
  18. I I shoot a centaur longbow but hunt with compound
  19. My question basically is how does string theory explain what came at the moments before the big bang. I dont understand how tiny sub-subatomic vibrating strings can make the bang occur, i can understand that if we change the vibrations of those strings that we would create new forms of matter but i dont understand what in string theory sets the motion of the universe.
  20. Thats my issue, i have a 2 year degree in physics, so i understand enough to need more information than a dumbed down version, but all the journals are above my head. Guess the best i can do is continue on my college until hopefully by the time I'm a graduate student i'll have my answers
  21. That's my issue, I've got a degree in physics (granted its only a 2 yr degree) and either I have too little information or way to complex info.So finding that middle ground is hard, guess I'll just stick to school and enroll in extra physics classes, we don't have any theoretical scientists at my college.
  22. Do we have any theoretical physicists on board? Or any people who happen to know a lot about string theory? I've got a couple questions about how physicists have came to conclusion of what they claim string theory explains.
  23. this tells me that your deer have functioning waste removal intestine tracts. and at some point in their life they've eaten something....thats all anyone can get from this with the info given
  24. i'll be shooting does untill im out of doe tags then ill just be chilling untill rut begins maybe ill sit and do some light early rattling to see what happens early season too
