Better Nesting Year,

at least in this area. Saw 3 hens with 13 poults last eve. Poults are 1/2 size of the moms. That's more then I've seen in last 5 years. How's other areas fairing?

Well, I am the same area, but I have seen 2 hens at different farms. One had 6 and the the other had 7. They were just about the same size as mom. Seems to be looking like a pretty good year. I went down to some hunting areas in the the Southern Tier and saw lots of evidence of birds, more than usual, but no actual turkeys. All I can say is I am thrilled for the light spring and summer. This past year hurt.

Not seeing many poults ...but they are tearing up the woods right now in huge areas....tons of basswood...iron wood and beechnuts dropping...Oh and a lot more cherries than I thought we had...perhaps a good sign...
