Big Bear Roadkill

I was on my way over to Keuka Lake fishing this this morning, and just north of Ira Davenport Hospital on route 54 north of Bath, there were several vehicles on the side of the road..

As I drove past, I saw a BIG black bear dead on the shoulder of the highway..His head looked HUGE..Big bear...

Filleted 11 nice perch and one unfortunate 3 pound smallmouth that went in the cooler because he had the hook in his gullet and probably would not have survived.. Fortunately, I like smallmouth filets ALMOST as much as I like perch filets..

Yeah..Big a$$ bear..Would have looked good in ANYBODY's trophy room...

Maybe whoever hit him will have him mounted.. I am assuming that the DEC or the Troopers issue possesion permits for roadkilled bears as they do deer. Anybody know anything about that ?
