Grouse
Gas prices dropped 25 cents a gallon on 6/1 due to NY removing the gas tax for a few months, or so they said. On 6/1/22 regular gas was $4.65 a gallon. On 6/3/22 the price of gas is right back up to $4.90 a gallon, exactly where it was prior to 6/1/22. Why is that? The gas companies, distributors, and stations are private businesses in a a free market system. They can charge whatever they want to the consumer. The government can remove their gas tax and the seller cannot collect it, but they can still up their prices that amount and more. The money just goes into their pocket and not the government. Grouse
And every station in town decided to do the same thing? Why did they lower it then? I don't think that's it. Edited June 4, 2022 by Grouse
