greybeard
I tried to order .22 caliber Crosman airgun pellets online from Walmart and was notified that because of State Law that they could not ship PELLETS to me on Long Island. They wouldn't even ship them to a Long Island Walmart for me to pick up there because of this State Law.even though that Walmart sells pellets in their sporting goods section. I emailed them and asked them.... WHAT STATE LAW ?? I tried to order an airgun from them last month and advised me that they couldn't because of Federal Firearms Laws.( I know they were wrong) I know that NYC has restrictions, but not Long Island. I was wondering if anyone here ever ordered airguns, or pellets on line from Walmart.. I should just drop it and order from someone else, but ???? (not sure why, but I want to pursue it.) greybeard
DTG3K..... I remember asking that question.. but that was about an airgun. The airgun restriction was because they "thought" it was a firearm, but I couldn't understand any logic for pellets. I figured maybe some airgun guys here may have tried to order pellets from Walmart since the shipping is so cheap and delivery for pickup at a local store is free.In some cases shipping is almost as much as the merchandise. I hadn't thought about lead restrictions, but I can buy pellets from many different out of state places .
greybeard
I just found out that the Walmart site states that sales , or shipment is prohibited to California, Connecticut, District of Columbia,Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusettes, N.J., N.Y., North Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Canada..It doesn't say why. So that ends that

shawnhu
Grey, never ordered these items from a Walmart before, so I wouldn't know. The proper thing for Walmart to do is not ship to NYC, and not NYS. Must have been a goof up up top by some idiot that mistaken NYC for NYS. In any case, which pellets are you trying to get? I may just have some.
greybeard
Thanks Shawn, I appreciate the offer.. BUT... this morning I tried again online and Walmart WILL send me the Destroyer .22 Pellets, so I got the main ones that I wanted to try ( I have them in .177) Here's the kicker.. They won't send me the .22 domed pellets because of State Law...How do you figure that..It sounds like pellet discrimination to me.. haha I can get some Benjamin Domes here in an assortment pack, so that'll do... I was going to email Walmart about their crazy system, but the Customer service person can't change the policy so I think that I'm not going to bother. Thank you again for the offer
Felonious_Monk
My advice, if you ordered the destroyers, is to cancel the order. The Destroyer EX pellets are horribly inaccurate, and don't transfer energy very well. The Crosman Premier Hollow Points and the domes are the way to go with Crosman pellets. They are the absolute best bang for the buck medium weight hunting pellets I have come across. If you have a higher powered spring or gas piston rifle, you could give the Beeman Kodiak 21.14 grain pellets a go too. Out of my Gamo they're good for about 675 fps and 20 ft-lbf, more than enough for squirrel, rabbit or coon.
shawnhu
The Destroyers in .177 is not a bad pellet, especially for the price. I've herd some bad reviews on the .22 however. The Crosman Premier HP and Domes are indeed very good pellets for the money in .22, but I wouldn't use them in .177. For the price of the Beeman Kodiaks, you can get the H&N Barracudas for the same price, and can choose from 3 different head sizes to match your barrel. In either case, it all depends on what the shooter expects from the airgun. I have pellets that are as cheap as dirt, and some that cost much more than 22LR rounds.
Felonious_Monk
Good point. I should have stressed that. My only experience with the destroyers in .177 is out of a 1377. I wasn't impressed, but it's also a relatively underpowered pump gun. So, take that for what it's worth. greybeard
Thanx for the info... Felonious ... I had a different experience with the .177 destroyer in my 1377.. It actually shot pretty good, which is why I wanted to try the .22...(I also read bad reviews in the .22 from some air gunners.) I know that I haven't shot enough destroyers from the 1377 to really judge, but so far so good.. Also, since I'm not hunting with these guns, and my target shooting area is really close range I couldn't really give an accurate assessment regarding accuracy. You and Shawn are better judges of true performance .I'm actually using them to shoot clam shells with the 1377 and soon with the 1322. I intend to shoot quite a few pellets at targets so I wanted to test a few different types. If I decide to hunt with my air rifle, I will try the other pellets as you and Shawn recommend. Shawn is the Crosman Hollowpoint basically the same pellet as the Crosman Premier Domed, but the hollowpoint has the cavity ?
Felonious_Monk
I have an indoor shooting lane for my small caliber airguns GB. I do penetration testing with homemade ballistic gel and chrony testing. The destroyers left me unimpressed is all. Your mileage may vary, you know? shawnhu
Grey, the Crosman Premier domes and HP are the same pellet, just drilled out to cause a hollow cone cavity. The domes perform a tad bit better in terms of BC for longer range shooting. Both pellets will not mushroom unless shooting over the sound barrier speeds due to their alloy mixture. Monk, I find the Destroyers to be good close range pellets in medium powered guns. I like them best between 600-800 fps. Again, for the price, it's not the best pellet by far but for target and pest control, more than adequate. For precision work and long range, pure lead for high BC. greybeard
Thanx .. Shawn.. I was pretty sure that "YOU" had told me that the domes and hollow points were actually the same pellet with one being drilled....I wasn't sure if I remembered it correctly... Since I'm shooting CLOSE range I'll pick up some hollow points today in the .
