Make sure you get a quality cable, because some will not be compatible with your iPhone. It'll tell you it won't charge.

 

I found that with even the highest quality Apple cords you STILL can't charge the damned phone when pocket lint clogs the charging port........................Multi  use toothpick to the rescue!!
