Deer hunting on State Lands

No people except for one guy driving slowly along the road in his pickup...I think he was trying to deer jack but I was too far away to see anything...

I drive woods roads slowly, and glass. If I see some area worth checking out, I mark the gps for a future scouting trip.

If I see animals, I cruise up 1/4 mile, dump the truck & stalk back to the area off the road..

Maybe he was checking you out as well. Who knows what his reasons for driving slowly..

Do you need a state parking permit to park in the state parking lots during hunting season?

At woofer- I am not 100% you do need a parking permit for all state land. I know if you are hunting sterling forest you need one. If you applied for the permit they issue you the parking permit in the envelope you received. You then put it on your dash when you are in a parking area. Stewart for bow season you can just drive on in, but park in an assigned number spot.

I hunt both private and state land. Mostly private around the buffalo area. My family has property in 9k. One property away is 2500 acres of state land that no one hunts

Don't know any regulations about when you can enter or leave state land. General rule is there isn't any, but local regulations may be more restrictive. Each piece of land has their own set of rules you need to familiarize yourself with.
