Marlin XL7

Recommended Posts

I had made a topic about a new rifle I was looking into buying and it was the Marlin XL7 in 270. cal. And a few people said to leave a reply on how it shot.

Well, it took me a few weeks longer to pick it up but man i'm glad I did. I bought it and threw a old Bushnell scope on it she shoots like a dream. Took 3 shots to have it at a inch grouping 100 yards out. Overall great rifle for the money I don't think it can be beatin as far as a nice gun at a great price. The trigger is great and you can adjust it down to about 2.5 pounds and it's awsome. I put 40 rounds threw it and it was flawless. I got mine in camo print. I want to put a bi-pod on it and get a nice camo scope.

If your looking for a great rifle to get into the sport or like me just wanted a nice new rifle to start the season with the Marlin XL7 has to be looked at.

What did it end up costing you? Did it come with a scope?

On sale for 350, does not come with scope which in my case I like to scope my own firearms. But I have nothing bad to say about the rifle it shoots better than rifles I payed 700 or more for. It only comes in 270. 25-06. and 30-06. But there a great buy.

  • 4 weeks later...

Bought a Nikon Pro-Staff 3x9x40 scope in camo with the BDC Reticle.  Bought a Harris Bi-pod for it now I just have to get to New Hartford Herb's to pick up my Nikon scope rings in camo, with a couple boxes of Fusion rounds 130 grain. O yea a little pumped to get it all set up and spot on. WoHooooo

Glad you like your new rifle HOBH...

I have been waiting for someone to give a performance review..

Looks like a pretty decent rifle for the money.

Marlin always had a good rep for accuracy and quality, but like Savage and other less expensive brands, the triggers tended to SUCK and there was not much you could do to improve them. Now, with improved triggers such as the Savage Accutrigger and Marlin's equivalent, a person who doesn't have a lot of money to spend can get a good, functional, accurate hunting rifle without having to refinance the farm...
