State wide bear..

It's open in Putnam County and Westchester (I believe), yet there are barely any bears. Maybe 1 gets shot per year in the whole county?

There are plenty of bears in Sullvian County.  In addition, my uncle has property in Ulster, where bear sightings were far and few between.  Now it seems to be a bi-weekly occurrence.

The article also had the 2012 bear density report...8n where our place is 1 per sq mile...camp something like 10-12 per sq. mile...dang I need to be hunting them harder down there!..big article worth reading

I have been getting more bears than bucks on my cams this year in Greene County. Over the past few seasons where i hunt i honestly feel like i have a better chance of shooting a bear than a mature buck which sucks b/c i really have no interest in shooting a bear.

Saw 6 bear in one sitting last year. I'm in 8P and the farmer was cutting a huge corn field. My stand was on the escape rout and bears just love corn!
