Water Rat
Blew out his elbow and appears to be done for the season . Worst case scenario , he will need Tommy John surgery and will miss next year as well . Led the league in K's and second in ERA this year . The best pitcher the Met's had since Dwight Gooden . Just when the Met's started to get a good young pitching staff, this had to happen . It ain't easy being a Met fan and never will be . Thank God football starts in 9 days. josephmrtn
OUCH!!! thats gotta be BAD for the Mets!!!
Elmo
Nowadays with advances in medicine, most pitchers come back from TJ surgery pitching just as hard if not faster than when they went down. Only issue is it takes them a little while to regain their feel for their control. Despite the fact that the Mets will have $70 million coming off the books this off season I don't think they were going to contend next year anyway. If you look at the free agency pool, it is one of the worst years of free agencies ever. Wheeler responded well last night after unofficially being thrust into the ace status. BizCT
Straburg and Lacker came back better than before, he should be fine. The CY Young race has been over for a while regardless. Kershaw will win it in the NL.
Elmo
Biz - your beloved Jacoby Ellsbury would look good in a Mets uniform.
BizCT
Biz - your beloved Jacoby Ellsbury would look good in a Mets uniform. Boras + Ellsbury = $100M. I'm not so sure he is worth that. His power numbers are gone.
Elmo
I liked the 70 steals Ellsbury over the 30-30 Ellsbury anyhow but I never like giving guys who rely on their speed a fat contract that runs past their 35th birthday.
Water Rat
I pray he only needs rehab. Even though some come back stronger after surgery , you obviously would rather avoid surgery . The guy had tremendous potential , but no run support . Kershaw should win the NL and Scherzer should be a lock in the AL.
