AaronBlaine
Hey guys I am 30 years old and I live in Suffolk of long island. I have been hunting now for 3 years and I am looking to get together with a group of guys and form a hunting/fishing club. Since most of my friends are not into this wonderful sport I am looking to meet a bunch of people who can share this love of the outdoors together. Sharing hunting experiences, scouting, possible lease upstate etc. If you are interested please feel free to reply. Age does not apply here so any lifetime hunters that would be willing to help pass this wonderful sport on to the up and coming generations are all welcome! Thanks and good luck out there!
Elmo
Sort of got a rag tag group here in NYC that hasn't quite been fully or properly organized. I would put more of an effort but can't do so this year. Suffolk kind of far from NYC though. Do you hunt Long Island mainly? AaronBlaine
I have been hunting upstate but I really want to explore all the parks of long island and really get the most out of the land I already live in. Its cheaper for me with tolls and everything plus I really want to expand on what I hunt including waterfowl and small game.
Eycee1
Hey im in the same boat as you I am 28 and just moved to Suffolk and my friends do not hunt either. I have learned from an older generation but our schedules do not coincide all the time. I too am looking to get the most out of hunting each season and I'm looking also hunt in Suffolk County so I do not always have to make those trips upstate.
Two Track
This is a good place to start. I know there are other Long Island hunters out there. You can read or post a note on the area that focuses on your WMU to find others out there. I am further out from from Elmo, so it is not practical for me to head down to your area. If you have some questions on public lands up in Orange County, I can pass on what I know of the area. I am still gathering knowledge about my area, as I am transplant to NY. It's my third year hunting in this state on public land. Most people here are glad to help out.
AaronBlaine
Sent Today, 05:27 AM Hey what's up man! Welcome to the club! Well actually I am still trying to put it together. I have been doing a lot of researching out east. I was at hubbard over the weekend and I got my green key which I highly recommend u get. We can bow and slug gun hunt there this season starting in November. They also have waterfowl hunting! I have never done it but I have an old Mossberg 500 I bought years ago and I would love to get some skeet shooting in to try and see if I could even hit a duck lol. All you have to do is show up at 8 and they have their own blinds! Just throw out some decoys and start calling em in! I also bought an aluminum 18ft fishing boat that would be perfect for duck hunting! Got a lot of plans I am just looking for someone that is actually interested in doing em! None of my friends are into hunting. My father was when he was younger however its tough to find people that are into it around my age! I am totally game to get into some tree stands for bow season as I just passed my bow hunters class a few weeks ago. Hit me back and let me know what you think! NYLandowner
I have parcels available for hunting leases in Rensselaer County, NY not very far from the north end of the Taconic State Parkway, which is a straight shot out of Long Island. If you are a group of responsible hunters looking for a long-term lease, contact me. If you are a single-hunter or small group looking to Bow hunt or to fill Doe tags, also contact me: NY/tree/farmer/at/nycap.rr.com (remove the slashes when you email me). No one I knew hunts. This forum connected me with a couple of hunters and now we get together and hunt from time to time. People have approached me about starting a club as well but they threw this idea at me right when I'm about to have my first child (due this November) so as you can imagine, starting a club is not at the top of my list right now but I've always been interested at least being part of a group near NYC. NFA-ADK
First thing about something like this is getting to know who will be involved and what are the goals. I have been bow hunting since 2001 and deer hunting since 1988. Safety, respect for my prey, nature and fellow hunters are some of the things I value highly. I hunted LI for the first time last year and loved seeing so many deer, sign, tracks etc. It was delightful enjoyable and close to home! Hunting ADK bucks is my passion but I have come to realize I just love deer hunting and wonder if I will ever get enough. I shot so much small game as a kid with a pellet gun it lost its appeal but predator hunting is something that interests me with my bow. If your interested I can take you on a tour of Suffolk archers and we can shoot the course. It's a great club just like this forum with some grumpy old men just like on here lol. Shooting at one of the rifle ranges is another way I like to see how people treat fire arms before I enter the woods to hunt with them. Perhaps we can do some shooting together and take if from their. I hunt LI with one other bow hunter at times. Roscoe, Prattsville, Cooperstown, Indian Lake, Long Lake, Newcomb, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid Trail, Port Jervis, Deposit and some western counties are some of the area I have hunted but Moose River has been my passion. If your interested in a deep woods ADK deer hunting experience or exploring LI for deer send me a PM. My NFA club seems to be getting smaller, not that it was ever suppose to be large 9 was the max at one time. Just a bunch of guys hunting out of a wall tent in deep woods, great times! NFA= No Fooling Around a reference to David Boomhower who was found opening weekend I believe in 1991 and being prepared for what can go wrong and having confidence in your navigation skills as this was before GPS... Our site is out of date as I am waiting for more pictures from one of the hunters.(He was the only one with me for 4 of 12 days last year due to Hurricane Sandy) But here it is. http://adkdeerhunting.wordpress.com/
