I'm not seeing a pic, but I'm assuming that it had just attempted to prey on a rabbit if it's down in front of your cam or if it was a coopers hawk, I've seen them try to take squirrels.

Juvenile red-tailed hawk just caught a mouse or mole. Sometimes they hold their wings over their kill. He looks like he's making sure no other predators are around before he rips into it.
