Fall turkey..

At the hospital for my MRI today...met a gentleman that can't be near the MRI....He has 6 remaining pellets in his chest from a fall turkey hunt...friends got together and did a safety talk...then they all went out to flush flocks to call back in...he came out of some pines and knelt down to see where his friends were at...Bam!!!....The guy that did the safety talk ...shot him in his left side......20++ pellets in his chest...pellets in his head one hit his eye glass lens right in the middle and pellets in his legs.....

That happened on the property Ihunt.  Guy was turkey hunting, calling sitting up against a tree.  Meanwhile another guy (tresspassing mind you) stalked him thinking he was a turkey. Saw a bit of movement behind a tree and lit the guy up.  He had to be merci flighted to the hostpital.  Got pelts up his entire right side of his body, arm, neck and head.

I'm thankful my area isn't hunted much (if at all) for turkey or small game. The possibility of tresspassers are always in the back of my mind though, so I am mindful of that. I remind the kids to be aware and not just assume...

The DEC were not at all pleased...he said it went to court and they were grilled about every tiny detail...his friend the shooter was in hot water,,,then they came to take me for my test...dang...
