Something didn't look right

Yesterday morning I left my house to go down to the store to to pick up a cup of coffee and then ride around to the back road to see if there is any game movement. The back road is a dirt road that goes over the mountain and comes out two min from my house.I am a bow hunter  and I don't start hunting until the last week of Oct.It was still dark  when I came around a blend and my headlights picked up a red light out in the woods and then it was gone. I backed up and there it was again. There were no cars parked on the the road that would let me think maybe a hunter was in the woods. This road is posted on both sides and I can hunt most of it and I know the owner lets others hunt if they ask. The light was not there the morning before 'so it had to be something new. I didn't go in to check it out then because if it was another hunter I didn't want to get in the way of his hunt , so I went on to another spot and would check it out at mid day to see if someone else was hunting there . I have hunted that hill for over 35 years and I know it like the back of my hand and I knew with in yards of were the light was coming from. I moved on to another place and sat for three or four hours and keep thinking about that light and telling myself that something is not right. I waited until noon and make my way back in a round about way to come in behind it. What I found was a motorcycle that was all cover up and the only thing showing was it's rear red reflectder and that was what my headlights picked up. It had no plate and it looked to be new. I backed out and went to call the statepolice and told then what I had found and was told they would send a car up and if I could show then were I found it. It was  a new bike and the trooper stated calling all over to find out if anyone was missing one. They took it out of there and back to the station to check for fingerprints. That the last I saw of it. The trooper thanked me and said they would find out who it beloned to. It is the first time I found anything like that.

stolen by kid/s, joy ridden and stashed,  would be my bet.    What kind/size was it?

It was not stolen by kids to take on a joy ride. It was brand new off the floor. The tires had never seen the road. The trooper said and I agree that whoever put it there, backed in on trail as far as they could go and than carried it. I t was a 200cc street bike.

The trooper should have set up a trailcam to catch the thief coming back to get the bike!

Oh yes, they took my statement that I had to sign with all the whens and hows. Everything went right into the computer. They printed the statement right out and also called it in to find who it belonged to.and if any dealers were missing one.
