Chef
So when I got down from my morning sit today I decided to do a little scouting. Normally I wouldn't do this but I can't used this property untill November 1st I saw a scrape underneath an apple tree but instead. Of the licking branch being of twig size it was a little thicker than my index finger and was freshly broken.... Has anyone ever seen this before..... Any way I took alittle estrus and dripped it in the scrape.... When I go out tomorrow I will run a drag through the scrape and place a sent wick about 10 yards out from my stand..... But if anyone has seen a licking branch like that before I'd like to hear about it I will take a pic tomorrow
Cabin Fever
Not unusual. As long as there's an overhanging branch of some kind, they'll use it! Even seen them improvise and use grapevines as an overhanging branch! LOL
skully
Yea, more common than you think. They bite them right off....
Cabin Fever
Yea, more common than you think. They bite them right off.... Yeah, I've had to resort to nailing on new ones, as they break them off! I hate to lose my best mock scrape locations, that they use year after year! BUCKANDAQUARTER
yeah, it's normal. I found a first for me this year too. A sapling overhanging a scrape was rubbed, and uprooted laying on the ground mere feet from where my buck had died days earlier. That thing was on a tare through that area! Go get him!
