dbHunterNY
My cousin Dave McGowan shot this big buck on morning of November 9th near Cossayuna Lake. The 8 pointer gross scored 136 1/8". It weighed 172 lbs field dressed. It was dogging a hot doe with 7 other bucks in tow. Without knowing any history I figured it to be 4.5 years old. I'd post pictures but I guess tapa talk photo sharing is disabled.

dbHunterNY
got to let them go if you want them to grow. hunters up in Washington county are getting there but down here in Rensselaer county hunters are still hard headed. he hadn't shot a buck in a few years due to passing younger bucks and he finally found a good one. Yep! Washington County has some great potential, it is getting a little better. MY brother lives on the Vermont border and one of the landowners by him has 1200 acres. He said to my brother "we've been trying to weed out the spikes and three's for the last few years but we haven't seen any big bucks." That amazes me. They shoot 15-20 small bucks every year and wonder why they aren't seeing the big ones. I was just talking to my buddy who saw Dave a few day before he took his buck. He told him how he was passing on 4's and 6's. Glad his determination paid off. Hat's off to him! A lot of guys who want to shoot big bucks don't pass up small bucks because they think the next guy down the line is going to harvest it. Tough habit to break.
