greg54
Was wondering if anyone has used the Beeman RS Pellet Rifle with the .22 barrel on it for squirrel hunting. I have only used mine twice plinking at cans. Does it do a good job with the squirrels...and whats a good pellet to use? Thanks for any info and hope everyone has Merry Christmas!! sits in trees
Most modern pellet rifles in 22cal shooting at around 800fps or better are deadly on squirrels. Im sure that Beeman would knock em dead.
greybeard
I don't know about that gun, but squirrels can be hard to kill, so I only take brain shots. I've killed them with heart/lung shots, but lost some too. My .22 air rifle is reportedly 800 fps, as is my .177 . which are the 2 I use on squirrels.I prefer the .22 for my needs. Try different types of pellets, some pellets will shoot different in your gun... That's just my 2 cents. Ask Shawnhu, he's a wealth of info on airguns. I like watching squirrel hunting with airgun stuff on you tube. They also do some pellet comparisons if you check for that. I wish we had an airgun section here, but I guess that there aren't enough people interested.
shawnhu
That walmart air gun is a bit on the light side for real hunting purposes. If you are accurate with it, you only need about 7 FPE to effectively kill a squirrel.
