Ban on Canadian Seals, bad precident for other furs

The moral problem is that only baby seals are harvested.

I have also seen videos of unethical means of harvesting these baby seals. I.e, poor shots, hammering them with a club but not enough to kill them, dragged with a hook impaled in them while alive, etc. Saw one skinned while still alive and only the fur was taken. Does this practices still go on or has it been cleaned up?

I would have less of a problem if the process is a little more regulated and baby seals are banned.

There are always abuses of any kind of consumptive uses of natural resources. Our tendencies are to attack the entire activity in a broad-brush fashion rather than working on eliminating the individual abuses. That is a tactic of most of our animal rights activists. The same arguments and tactics can be found in any animal rights media productions including attacks on all hunting, trapping, and fishing activities. Emphasize the abuses and work to eliminate the entire activity.
