bear hunting

ive had a couple of sightings here in sullivan county,mother with 2 cubs,a loaner by himself wieghed about 100lbs.and 1 giant male looked to be about 400lbs.he did have a tag on him.my question is,even though there tagged can you still shoot him.

No restrictions on shooting a tagged bear. DEC does ask to get the equipment back though. Southern bear have to be checked in anyway if i recall correctly. I only have hunted then up north and there is no check in requirement there....the 400 would make a great rug

Apparently there are bear all over by me and Fairgame in Sullivan.  He took one on opening day of bow last year, and there are sightings by my neighbor all the time.  The other neighbor said there is a bunch back in the swap in the corner of my property, apparently they frequent there and or live there.  None on my trail camera yet, but I am sure I'll have one on there soon.

I live in Niagara County, in Newfane. We are having bear sightings here now. We have also had reports of cougars as well. I saw one about 5 years ago down by Lake Ontario.
