verminater71
Buttermilk and Treman park hold some excellent hunting Connecticut hill has some deer, however the numbers are extremely low, huge wilderness, with poor food supply = low numbers, add the high coyote numbers and a couple tough winters, and it's long days watching leaves fall
HectorBuckBuster
Cornell does allow hunting on some of their property. You just need to apply and they do a back ground check.
HectorBuckBuster
Hey AJDAL94, you say you are a freshman does that mean you are living on campus. If so you may want to check about the legality of having a bow on school property. I know it sounds stupid, but I believe NY now classifies a bow as a firearm. Would hate to see you get in trouble because of some stupid laws.

nyslowhand
BTW - Cornell has Arnot Forest and there is also Texas Hollow State Forest, neither is too far from Alpine (Conn. Hill).
retrosub
I've hunted Cornell lands for two years, and this year all the programs are combined into one. I would highly recommend that over parks or other public land. This year I've been contacting local land owners for permission. The onX Maps mobile app has been the source of my letter-writing campaign.
jjb4900
here's a link to the NYS Penal on weapons possesion on school grounds, and also the definition of "firearm"....... http://ypdcrime.com/penal.law/article265.htm#p2653
HectorBuckBuster
JJB4900, I believe NY changed the law in the last couple years, as I know now it includes black powder guns as a firearm, as before a felon could legally by a muzzle loader http://www.dec.ny.gov/regs/3934.html#13355
jjb4900
JJB4900, I believe NY changed the law in the last couple years, as I know now it includes black powder guns as a firearm, as before a felon could legally by a muzzle loader http://www.dec.ny.gov/regs/3934.html#13355 that's the latest from the NYS Penal law, and you need to keep in mind that the ECL and PL aren't exactly on the same page.........either way, school's may very well have their own tighter restrictions on what they allow on their grounds....the link from DEC specifically states for the "purposes of fish and wildlife law".
