Pass small buck....see nothing else. Shoot small buck, see lots of bucks.

I passed on small bucks for 3 straight bow seasons, with nothing to show for as no bigger bucks passed by later on in bow season.

This year, I decided I would shoot first buck that came in bow range this season. I shot a 1.5 yr old 7 pt on Oct 23. The rest of bow season I had 8 different bucks come by within 15 yards, including two 2.5 yr old 8 pts. Oh well....

Trail camera picked up three nice 3.5 yr old bucks on my pond trail, so I decided I would hold out for one of them. Opening day I passed on a 6 pt buck at 20 yards after shooting a doe, and haven't seen a single deer the past 7 days of hunting.

Go figure....

All season, I have had only 1 antlerless deer within range, and shot that doe opening day. One single doe within range all season, thats it.

16 days of bowhunting, 8 days of gun hunting so far in 8N Ontario county.

I passed on a 5 point and never got a shot at another deer other than 4 doe fawns that I watched go by the stand . No regrets ....

Its luck or the draw, really...

thats life sometimes and its happened to me as well. it makes the sport interesting only because, hey you never know!

i passed on 6 diff bucks during bow season. my uncle killed 1 of them the rest i was seeing still. i had a chance at a wall hanger on gun opener but i blew it since then i have only seen 1 spike. and a ton of button bucks / doe.

I have passed on at least 50 bucks in the last 11 years trying to get a big  buck with my recurve... i have seen many big bucks as well but none offered a good 20 yard shot... I'll wait another 11 years if thats what it takes...until I shoot a big buck with my recurve.
