First-light
So the lease property we have has a big goldenrod field. I picked an area and put a 1/4 acre food plot. There is a gun stand 40 yards into the woods and a ground blind 15 yards from it. Now this is the second year on the lease and still learning the property. Putting in this plot just draws those deer right to you. I was in the gunstand and saw a bunch of doe in the food plot and then a buck chasing them. We decided to put in a ground blind to see what happens. Well today between 4:00 and last light we had three bucks and a bunch oif doe in there. Doe were first followed by a spike and six point and this bigger guy around last light.
landtracdeerhunter
Totally agree. Food sources never disappoint. Our hay fields bring in a lot of deer. I planted about 7 acres of lawn and red clover mixed with birds foot trefoil seed. Golden rod in part of it. It really produced this year. I really like the lawn clover. It spreads out and will continue to grow for years. I didn't get radish in this year and was a little worried. I believe now, I would rather spend the money on the lawn clover, as it draws deer right into snow.
