Saturday opener....

it has been a saturday opener in the northern zone forever.  We seem to make it work.  I take Friday off and go to camp in the morning.  we all hang out then and eat venison that night and we go hunt saturday morning.  Pretty simple.  With all I read on here every year about all the horrible hunters and all, I would wait until the second weekend anyway if I had to hunt like that.

I never could understand the camp argument of the Monday opener fans. If you are willing to burn a vacation day or just play hooky on the Monday, why not take that same vaco day on the Friday before and do your camp thing prior to the Saturday opener that we have now. Yes it does cut one of these non-hunting days out of the "camp experience" but really how many of those do you really need?

That's what I do. Enjoy the last day of bow and then spend the weekend with rifle.

It could be on Monurday, and I'd be out, regardless.

Don't worry though, DEC. will be changing it again, book on that.

i asked a bunch of DEC officers (golf outing) if it would ever go back and they said not even a consideration, not gonna happen
