Been focusing on taking out coyote, so Mus hunting took a backseat.

Since it's been getting warmer I decided to take the Mus rig for a spin.

It didn't disappoint.

Not the best image, but it was very humid.

Worked overnight and decided to see what was lurking about the abode when i got home.

I found a mus that's been eluding me for awhile lounging in a bush thinking it was safe at 2 Am.

Well it turns out that maybe it knew my air rifle lost zero, but it didn't know that as a long range shooter/hunter I've been trained in the use of Kentucky windage.

Celebrated two birthdays Sunday PM, so that meant eating two pieces of blue velvet cake and a big bowl of watermelon chunks so I was too sugared up to sleep.

What else to do but go outside and hunt mus to work it off.

With some affordable 1280 resolution thermal scopes becoming available I decided to liquidate some optics and purchase one if the price was right.

Got a NocPix Ace S60R a few weeks ago and mounted it on the Barra .177 PCP rifle to get acquainted with it hunting mus around the abode.

Holy freaking awesome Batman.

This mus ran right by the kill zone a couple of times before it stopped.

I gave it an insurance shot just in case because wounded mus are very dangerous.

Beautiful night for thermal and the 1280 res S60R didn't disappoint.

Ordered some HP pellets to try out next week for more explosive results.

This mus gave me the slip a couple of times and thought I was shooting blanks.

I really tried to make the Gamo 10x hollow point pellets work, but they were too erratic in the accuracy dept.

I'm looking to get a pellet sizer and seeing if I can make them work as they show real promise, are soft and not prone to ricochet.

My PCP rifle prefers the 8.2 grain H&N Finale pellet.

They're prone to ricochet because of their hardness, but are one hole wonders without a lot of tuning.

This one took awhile before it gave me just enough time to drop it.

The mus in my area are getting cautious, so I took a nap and got up early to catch this one frolicking about while the birds were chirping.

The early bird gets the mus.

This one gave me the slip a few times, but it ended up like all the others, tumbling.

H&N resized and weight sorted pellets show a measurable increase in first shot accuracy.
